I graduated over a year ago and run regularly 2 or mostly 3 times a week. Can I do a leisurely 5 mile walk on a rest day? Ladyjogger

Thank you, I wondered if my ‘tired legs’ this morning were as a result of my walking but obviously not! Just age perhaps!

Yes, of course you can , and you didn't need to wait a year !Rest days are better referred to as 'Non running days'

So you can walk or do other non impact training on those days

Thanks, I’ll carry on then.

Of course you can do a 5 miles walk on a rest day from running, as you graduated from C25K over a year ago you could, if you wish, run on consecutive days, a thing which is not advisable to do for at least 6 to 12 months for anyone who has graduated.

Thank you.

By running regularly 2-3 times a week for a year now, you are in a great position to increase your activity should you wish. Whether that's increasing to 3-4 runs a week, or adding in other activities on your non-running days.

Thanks. Maybe I’ll do some extra runs.

Hi Ladyjogger,

I graduated a little over a year ago too, and I try to walk at least 50km a month, in between my three running days. 50km in a month is a recurring set challenge on the Strava app - I’ve completed it for May, June, July and August and halfway through September.

So I hope the answer is Yes! 🙂

Well done on the 50k walking. I find the basic free version of Strava a bit hit and miss. My husband and I can walk together yet get significantly different distances recorded! Maybe I should purchase a proper package😂

It’s because it’s hit and miss that I’ve stuck with the free version. 😁

I’ve bought a Garmin, just now - more for following the training programmes than for hopefully better GPS accuracy - but I’ll be interested to compare the results. I suspect they’re as inaccurate as each other.
