Hey! My name is Emma, I’m a single and sole parent to 2 children. I’ve always found time an issue for exercising and planning meals. However, I discovered mindful podcasts and couch to 5k along with some awesome apps, altering our diet to vegetarian and starting our path to becoming vegan, so far I’ve lost 4lb and feel amazing. I’m excited to continue this journey. I’ve noticed a huge difference in my mood and skin too.
I’d love to meet others on a similar journey 😊

Being vegan is great for the planet but .plant-based diets carry some risk of inadequate protein, vitamin, and mineral intake.
Partaking of strenuous physical exercise requires a good, broad based diet. With good research it is possible to be considerably more healthy than the average carnivore.
Brilliant that you have started your 5k journey , which is a great plan and very addictive ! Sounds like you have a busy schedule. I have been vegetarian ( 90% vegan for the last 2 years) for over 30 years as long as you make sure you get a balanced diet you will be fine but you do need to do your research carefully. If your children are joining you on this journey please take advice from a specialist on children's nutrition ( their nutrition needs are very complex ), I left it to my child to decide for themselves if they wanted to be vegetarian/ vegan. I have just found podcasts and they do distract you whilst running most of the time... Yesterday's was awful 🤣. Enjoy your 5k journey.
Hey! Thank you for your positive message and advice.Absolutely the children are making the choice for themselves, we’re taking a slow and steady approach to the transition 😊
The podcasts are deffo a great distraction for sure! I feel like today was a harder run; starting week 4 was like my week 1 day 1 for me 🤣
Hello, welcome and well done getting started. It’s great that you have found the time to fit this in and also that you are marking good healthy choices for you and your children. I read a study a couple of years ago that said children with healthy and active mums are much more likely to be healthy and active themselves... the same study said that what dads like me did had little to no influence on them 🤷♂️
I have been vegetarian for over 30 years and have thought about becoming vegan a few times. I need to find a replacement for the (all protein and fat) pickled eggs, which are my favoured post workout protein snack... which I have failed to do many times.
Thank you for your reply! That’s an interesting study on the impact of active mums over active dads 🙄 🤔 Yes eggs are my biggest thing too. I never realised how many we have as a family 🤣🤦🏽♀️
However I have found some awesome replacements (not for pickled or boiled eggs per say) but scrambled and within recipes 😀
Hey, becoming a dad was the reason I started running - children are hard work and I wanted to be fit enough to cope and be around long enough to help him grow up.
The great thing about running is you just need trainers and 30 mins. I generally run when my son is asleep (morning or evening), every other day and over the last 5 months I've gone from 0-10K - its such a great feeling of achievement.
Hey! Thank you for positive message!Yes! I go when the children are asleep in the morning albeit it being 5:30 🥱 it definitely sets me up for the day ahead.
I’ve absolutely caught the running bug!
Thank you for your luck wishes and well done to you for your achievements too 😀
