A question of age ...

Second time around and started W5. Actually thought it was the end of W4 so quite a nasty shock! But it went very well - first 5m the worst but now I'm picking my music better - the Clash and the Monkees seems a good mix. I started running 40 years ago in a redwood forest in California and got hooked. Then I just stopped. Now I run for health and to try and find again that addiction.Remember Forest Gump's running? Rocky sprinting up the steps? That quest for the buzz isn't helped by my knees which have started hurting, but thank goodness the strong aversion to giving up is still there. At the end of the week is the Big One and that seems a ridiculously long way to run without stopping. And always the question when it starts hurting a lot is why do it. But ultimately I guess that reason is found somewhere under the redwood trees in the long ago. But we run because we run because we run and because we find something weirdly comforting while we're doing it. Onward!

Well done on your progress.

If it hurts you ought to stop............ although pain thresholds are as individual as appetites. Follow the advice in the guide to the plan on minimising impact and strengthening exercises.

W5R3 will be the shortest workout since W3 when you do it, so relax and don't build it into the Big one.

This breakdown of W5 may help allay your fears healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

Thanks - yes I'll stop if it hurts but then again it'sall a not stopping when it hurts sort of thing, isn't it? But knees are knees. I think I'm just tired of my body getting creaky and want to take charge again. And of course you're right, best just to take the 20 minutes when it comes - it's all in the mind. Back to knees - the trouble went after the first 5 minute run, so, I'll hang onto that for the meantime - anyway, thanks for the interest! Just read the link - uses! totally agree! Thanks!
