Been watching from the sidelines for the past month or two whilst I've been plugging away with my own battle to become a runner. With the exception of a few issues with headaches in the first week or two, and then a calf problem which caused me to have a 10 day rest up to heal during week four, it's actually gone stunningly well so far! I can't believe that it's taken me - a 51 year old, slightly over weight, bloke who had never run before - to where I am now.
I'm posting as I've just realised this morning that I've reached a bit of a milestone. Having just done my 2nd run on week 6 yesterday, there are now no more days where the runs have rests in between runs, if you see what I mean... From here on in all the runs are a solid 25 minutes or more. Gulp. π³
I can't say that I've found it easy, but I now believe I can actually do it and get to week 9, something I certainly didn't believe when I started!
Keep at it folks, if I can do it, anybody can!

Congratulations to you MM on completing all those runs up to run 2 of week 6, from now on, no more walking breaks, once you have completed run 3 of week 6 you will be very proud of yourself and also officially a runner, onwards and upwards ππΎ π
I've have to say, having just been nosy and read your bio, I feel that I have absolutely no excuse at all for not finishing this now!! Hats off to you, it looks very much like you'd put people half my age to shame! My only regret was not starting this years ago, I might have made a half decent runner 20 years back, but as you're quite convincingly showing folk, it's never too late to start.
You take care, but look out, cos hopefully it won't be long before I'm right behind you!
That's nice of you MechanismMan on looking at my bio, you are not nosy whatsoever, many here on C25K look at other runners profile page.
Basically my favourite sport has been cycling, been doing that since I was 7, I did run a bit of running at Primary School but I preferred cycling and only started running with C25K in April 2018, as they say 'never too late', I suppose if I had started running again in my early 40's, not 70's I MAY have been able to run regular sub 30 minute 5K's, not as is now sub 40/35 minute 5K time runs.
I cycled regularly for a lot of years, and competed on my mountain bikefor the RAF for a while, never hugely successfully, but it was fun and it got my round the country a fair bit. The first thing aboard the Hercules transport that used to take my SQN away on foreign detachments was always my bike. Going out cycling in Alaska, or Canada, or Sardinia, or the USA, or even wonderful Scotland was always so much more fun than going to the local bar in the evenings or on the weekends and getting horribly drunk! With hind sight it would have been fun to run in those places too!Your running times look pretty good to me - at the moment that's where I'm aiming!
Keep it up, and I'll keep you in mind when I'm struggling tomorrow. π
Thank you for your post. I completed wk6 run 2 today and thought exactly the same! It feels a bit overwhelming but Iβm weirdly a bit excited to give run 3 a go! Good luck for yours
Yes, me too. I almost believe I can do it now - it's more of a head thing rather than a fitness thing now, and my head is beginning to believe!Best of luck, but do you know what? I think we'll be fine. π
