Has anyone else had problems with trying to run but ending up playing ‘dodge the couples who won’t move’ and end up walking. Yesterday I did my week 7 week 2 run alongside the river in Knaresborough, yorkshire. Very beautiful so unfortunately brought all the tourists out but it seems that nobody there were aware of COVID. No one moving. It frustrates me that as runners we get so much grief that we should not be out spreading our germs. I have never walked as much as frustration really put me off running. Hopefully it has not put me off totally.

Disadvantages of running on a sunny day
I live in a village in the Norfolk Broads same issues here add the cyclists racing each other going at top speed into the mix too and it can be quite stressful. I just go out early, 7.30 ish then all the ramblers are not yet up and the cyclists on the road are not out racing at that time either. I totally feel your pain.
I've been quite lucky running in a park and am able to run during the day on weekdays when there are fewer people about. Also it being a park if there are a lot of people at any point I can divert and run on the grass to pass them at a respectful distance.
I'm also at W7R2. The problem I'm now finding is it is getting a little boring running the same circuit but I'm struggling to find alternative runs where I'm not going to be running too close to other people.
Hi. On a weekend we tend to run out on the immense grassed local area. This is part of our park run route. This is a great area to keep distance but my route yesterday is a perfect 2.5k to the end and then back. I did go later than my normal time so may try a little earlier. I have looked at getting a runners bell that clips on your fingers
Hi and I would suggest running earlier or later (if your schedule allows)? I find at weekends it's worse. If I run after about 9am people are starting to emerge. Don't give up, either change your route or time. Best of luck.
Happytowngirl I feel your aggravation. Same here in BC 🇨🇦. Spring break here, weather is not too bad and covid so more people out,but worst are the dog owners who wander with their old dog, not at all aware of others on the sidewalk. My running is slow but even I go a bit faster than that! Never thought I'd be a runner, let alone a grumpy one
😂
If you can't shout "Good afternoon" to startle the dawdlers you're going too fast. 😉
Yep. Totally feeling that, made worse when you get ‘that’ one runner who wants to run into general flow so you have to dodge as oppose to keeping to opp side as everyone else is doing... (omg... just realised I am a running snob!😬)
I don’t like going to run around the local barrage when it’s sunny as there are so many people out. The best time is early morning which is when I prefer to run anyway.
Yes, I plan my routes according to what day it is and if the sun is out. Sundays are really packed on the pretty routes, and I'm just about to switch my long run to Mondays to avoid the crowds now the weather is getting better.
