Still on road to recovery(haven’t given up yet)

Hi all, haven’t posted for a bit(haven’t had anything positive to say), it’s been a good few months with problems with prosthetic leg 🦿, getting problems solved has been very difficult due to covid restrictions, but now things are starting to work out.

Also have managed to get a decent/reasonably priced treadmill, so can now start pushing myself a bit without worrying about pain stopping me getting back home, now when I push I can stop and flop on a chair, I know then there is no workdown, but that’s better than blisters on stump. At the moment I’m still only walking, but getting around with one walking stick and not crutches.

Nearly 12 months on I now fell things are looking up.

As Spencer Davis said Keep on running.

I’ve just read through your previous posts and all I can say is that I have nothing but respect for you. The way you’ve handled a life changing event is amazing, and I’m so pleased to see that you are planning on carrying on running.

The quote I’ve attached is what’s been in my head while I’ve been injured. With your determination I imagine the comeback is going to be epic!

I like this quote. It will be my mantra until I get off the IC 👍🏻😀

Yeah it’s a good one, especially as it’s true. I’ve had four runs back now and getting back to full strength. Sorry to hear you’re still injured, but if I have many more runs like my last one I will probably be back there with you soon 😕

Hope that’s not the case for you. Not much fun being on the IC. Hope your next run is a good one 👍🏻

Glad you managed to get a treadmill.. hope it will help to give you confidence.. yes much better to be able to stop as soon as there’s any discomfort and prevent soreness..Are you a member of the Limbpower Facebook groups? I’ve found them to be an absolute godsend this year.. 😊

Keep at it, but be kind to yourself.

C25k was designed to be NO PAIN, NO PAIN as opposed to the old fashioned notion of NO PAIN, NO GAIN.

That’s why I got the treadmill, so I’m in control and can limit pain and maximise gain.

Hi Pete, good to hear from you. Looks like you've had a frustrating time, I'm glad things are getting back on track for you. A walking stick, hey, that must feel like a huge relief after all that time on crutches. Crutches are hard work! Also, if you want to just post to say how you're doing, and if you haven't achieved much, a picture of a tree or something will distract us from noticing! (I do this, I think I've got away with it 😉)

Hi grumpy, things haven’t been all bad, firstly my local nhs authority stopped all outpatient clinics, but prosthetic department in neighbouring authority picked up my care, also found out the foot I want is not available from nhs(in my area at least) Blatchford are doing clinical trials so due to get one very soon so all in all can’t complain.Hope you are keeping well.

Covid has turned the nhs into more of a lottery than usual, but the individual staff are doing their very best to help, I find. I'm fine, thanks for asking, but still not able to run after a false start. I've had to give myself a good talking to once or twice when I get fed up of doing all the exercises! Spring weather has cheered me up, and I'm getting my first jab this week. 😀

Keeping my fingers crossed for your new foot arriving soon

🤞

Glad you are making progress albeit slow, the treadmill is a great idea so you can just stop when you need to and you don’t have to worry about the weather.
