Went out after work, cold here, so 2 long sleeve thin tops, and gloves, for the first time! Soon warmed up, probably didnt need the gloves šŸ¤£, anyway, i'd decided to do another 5k, and upped the pace a bit, almost did negative splits, i think that's the term! šŸ¤” did it in just under 39 mins, average pace 7.42/km, my fastest so far, but i was blowing, at the end!!! šŸ„µšŸ„µšŸ„µ, i think i prefer my slower pace, never felt like that, since the early weeks of the programme, so back to šŸŒšŸŒšŸŒ, probably on thur, after work, oh and there was me thinking i was going a bit faster, and two male šŸ¦ŒšŸ¦Œwizzed past me, at great pace!!! šŸ¤£

Anyway, that's another run done! šŸ˜€

Well done, much faster than me, who is the proverbial šŸŒšŸŒ 9.28/km. I think the moment were are on a learning curve. Clothes, weather pace, dark or light. I suppose with trial and error well'll settle into some sort of routine eventually

Still cant believe, i'm going out 3 times a week running, and i think the slower pace, is much more enjoyable, and just as rewarding! šŸ˜€

Well done! Thatā€™s amazing. Remember: Stone Dragon says gazelles sometimes move majestically (at a snailā€™s pace). šŸ¦ŒšŸŒ Key lesson.

Now, Iā€™ve only just learned about ā€˜splitsā€™. ā€˜Negative splitsā€™?? šŸ¤”šŸ¤” Ever reminded that weā€™re still šŸ£šŸ„šŸƒšŸ»šŸƒšŸ½ā€ā™€ļøšŸƒšŸæā€ā™‚ļøšŸƒā€ā™€ļø

Like you say, we're so new to all this, cant believe i'm talking about splits šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£, i'm going to slow down, for next run, so the two joggers, with fluorescent yellow gloves šŸ¤” will be laughing, see, i actualy remembered something about the run!!! šŸ¤£

šŸ˜‚šŸ¤£I canā€™t believe I am either!

You can definitely gain from pulling back, and youā€™re running for a greater distance already.

Oh yes, back to šŸŒšŸŒšŸŒ next run!!! šŸ˜€

Reframe: gazelle moving majestically!

Love it šŸ¦ŒšŸ¦Œ Gazelle's don't always go flat out they glide majestically and gracefully at whatever speed they fancy!! Well done on the run Peter and another 5k šŸ‘šŸ’Ŗā„

See, Peter, I told you thatā€™s what Stone Dragon says!!!

Always need the gloves, good times sounds like a great run, isnā€™t it odd when others go whizzing past?

Peter44 profile image
Peter44Graduate in reply to SueAppleRun

I was glad to get gloves of, at the end, and my you tube music finished towards the end, so ran naked!Yes, being overtaken like that, they even went to end of the road, and came back past me!!! šŸ¤£

Now thatā€™s just rude, šŸ˜‚ but itā€™s good to see others out and about running even if they pass us, when we first started we could barely keep up with dog walkers now itā€™s great to pass walkers and once I passed a runner who had passed me but then stopped to walk

That was your moment, to overtake, the overtaker!!! šŸ˜€

Great run- I did exactly the same as you-put the layers on, headed out into the freezing cold and did 5k in 38.54mins šŸ„¶šŸ˜

Blimey, we were almost just the same, bet you werent as puffed out as me, at the end šŸ„µ we've got snow forcast down here, for fri šŸ„¶, will be running thur/ sat, changed it up this week, as fri is my birthday, and we're alowed out for a meal! šŸ¤£

I was fine tonight, much easier than Sundayā€™s run. Iā€™ll probably have to run Friday- will be a cold one I think- enjoy your birthday meal- no eating out here- still in Tier 3 šŸ™

Mr Peter44.....that was some run,!!! Oh my!! 5k in less than 39 mins....WoW šŸ‘šŸ‘šŸ‘. Well donešŸ˜. And look at you with your negative splitting...and...a bit of naked running...šŸ„¶šŸ„¶šŸ„¶šŸ„¶ Too cold for that young man. I know you said were šŸ„µšŸ„µ by the end...but were you chuffed when you saw your time?? šŸ˜šŸ˜. You can pull back now and cruise, snailšŸŒ or gazellešŸ¦Œ.. whatever takes your fancy. I šŸ˜‚šŸ¤£ when you said..you remembered something about the run....crikey it must all have been a blur at your pace! Good run PeteršŸ‘šŸ‘. I hope there's enough emojis for you, Rennur said I'd been rationing them today. šŸ¦ŒšŸŒšŸ¢šŸƒā€ā™€ļøšŸ™‹

Thanks, i know, what am i like eh, all this technical stuff, i'm coming out with, most of which, i'd never heard of, till recently! šŸ¤£ dont know about jeffing, i was f'ing alot, near the end! šŸ¤£, actualy it was the breathing, that made me think, come on peter, slow down, stop worrying about times, distance, splits etc, just enjoy the run! šŸ˜€ i'm looking forward to my sat run, along the canal, in daylight, and back to šŸŒšŸ¤£.

Well done, its definitely colder these last few days, but surprising how quickly we warm up, regretting hats, gloves extra layersšŸ˜„šŸ˜….your last comments made me laugh, I always think I'm running faster(in my head) than I actually amšŸ˜„enjoy your future runsšŸ’ŖšŸ‘šŸƒšŸƒ

Thanks, and i was going to ask about hats, when running, think i'd get too hot? šŸ¤” just looking at your posts, blimey, your doing some long runs now!!! šŸ„µ

Aiming for half marathon in the springšŸ‘Hats, I wear a cap when its raining but find woolly hats a bit too hot for me and feel a bit like a pressure cooker ready to blow a gasketšŸ™Šbut I suppose its down to personal preference.

Ditto - glad you enjoyed your run . Itā€™s the best activity during the winter months for giving ones mind and body a lift. It was 6 degrees and dry here , the best conditions for me cause Iā€™m old (70). Long sleeved running top on and reflective flashing lights vest off I went . Laugh - I looked like a mobile Christmas Tree running down the road šŸƒā€ā™€ļø-šŸŽ„managed 6K due to weather conditions .

well done . Hi Peter it sounds like we are at a similar point in our CR's . I can relate to your post.. I have been trying to do 2 slow 30 min runs and one timed 5k on saturdays.. but last saturday i was so keen to run my first sub 40min 5k that i overdid it and was left with a sore groin . so decided to skip yesterdays run (gentle walk instead) . might replace this sats 5k with a slow 30 min run instead. It's tricky getting the balance right, but better to be running slowly and doing it than over doing it.

Peter44 profile image
Peter44Graduate in reply to jimytwo2

Yes, that sounds just like my run, last night, i think i'll slow down a bit for now, till i've got more mileage, in my legs, dont want to overdo it! šŸ˜€

Hi Peter, just catching up on everyone's runs here in the last few days. Well done on this run, nice pace šŸ¦ŒšŸ¦Œ Good for you for pushing yourself!! Negative splits too..crikey... I even know what that is now too šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚Good to do that just to see how you can do.. I know what you mean, the uncomfortable faster pace can sometimes feel like that early week's feeling when we all slogged it on our runs and wondered how we'd ever get to 30mins etc. But you are getting fitter all the time, it's amazing how the body is quietly getting stronger and fitter and you will be able to take a bit more when you want to push it I'm sure. For now, getting the distance in our legs I think is key.

Well, I am feeling a bit lacking in runs having last run on Sunday. Work has been manic this week and my sort-of-planned Tues morning run didn't happen after a bad night's sleep, this morning I was up and out at 6.30am for 1hr of strength training, lifting weights, battling battle ropes and jumping around a field with my PT!! Feeling a bit achy now but in a good way. I want to go out tomorrow morning for a 5km (forecast rain šŸ¤Ø) I'm even fitting it in before the dentist at 9am šŸ˜œand Sun morning for a 6km is plan. Fingers crossed!

Peter44 profile image
Peter44Graduate in reply to Runforurlife

Blimey, fitting in a run before the dentist, now that's dedication! I must be getting stronger, as dont feel to bad today, after last nights run, i remember how i was, after runs, in the early weeks!!! šŸ¤£ i changed my routine this week, to run tue/thur/sat, which felt strange mon evening, not running, you've had a bit of a gap, between runs, i'll be back on furlough, end of next week, till jan 4, so will be nice to do more day runs. šŸ˜€

Well done! Youā€™ve got to find a pace you enjoy. It may naturally go up as we get fitter. The last thing I want personally, is to find something Iā€™m enjoying a chore.

Yes, your right, need to remember to enjoy the run, forget about pace, and distance, keep it slow!!! šŸŒšŸŒšŸŒ
