First run/walk complete

Completed run 1 on week 1. Super proud of myself for pushing myself to the end. By no means was I fast and towards the last two run cycles I had burning in my lungs. Regardless, I’m delighted. Here’s to run 2 on Friday.

You don't need to be fast - just keep putting one foot in front of the other. I always remember I'm faster than anyone who didn't get off the couch!

Congratulations on finishing your first day and enjoy the process.

Well done, it’s my week one run 2 tonight after work. So I’m in the same position. But when it hurts I just slow down a bit ( which is probably a tad faster than a brisk walk) but we are doing this.

Good luck for run 2 🏃‍♀️

Go you Molly! Yes, that’s it - we’re doing it. The advice I’m getting on here is priceless. My problem has been consistency but knowing to take it slow and listen to my body on recovery days will be the difference this time round.

I’m rooting for you! Well done and good luck for the next run

Well done VL don’t worry about speed, that’s not important at all, it’s a great achievement to get out there for the first time and complete the first run.

Go nice and slowly during the jogging parts so you’ve got enough left in the tank to finish and try and get your breathing into a nice steady rhythm. Nice deep breath in through your mouth (not too quickly)then purse your lips slightly as you exhale, the oxygen acts as your fuel so if you keep taking enough in you won’t get so out of breath.....Good luck 👍

Thanks so much! That’s brill advice on the breathing. Will go into run 2 feeling much more informed with what I’m actually doing regards breathing and pace.

Well done.

I was exactly the same when I started the plan and have now made it to week 9.

Definitely not all plain sailing but I will recommend that you listen to your body, take extra rest days when you need or want them, listen to the coaches on the plan and it will all come together.

Im beginning to get a bit addicted to the sense of achievement at the end of each run now 😁

Thanks so much for the words of encouragement. I have lost count the amount of times I’ve downloaded and deleted the c25k app but this time I’m determined. Using all the resources including this platform is going to help push me in the right direction. Well done on making it to week 9!!!

Welcome to the forum and well done on getting started.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.

Enjoy your journey.

Well done Vic. The first run is the hardest, your body spends 95% of the time swearing at you.

A good stretch after a run really helps to stop your muscles from feeling they’re full of battery acid...or salt and vinegar Walkers (which are essentially the same flavour) the next day. YouTube is a good source of info, my advice is to shut the curtains first though, some of them are...less than elegant...

😂😂What's wrong with salt and vinegar Walkers?????
