i just remember what week 1 was like, so its a natural reaction when i think of undertaking even more exhaustion... i know i sound like a wimp , i am not, far from it, i am just unfit...

Elfe5 profile image

... I don’t think it will be more exhaustion, ( as long as you go slowly enough) – as beginners we imagine each week is going to be harder and harder, but that is not really true – because we become fitter and ready for the next stage. 😄

me tooo. love love love !

You're probably not that unfit! Fact you're just not used to using your running muscles, you're educating your legs to work in a whole new way 👍

changing-woman profile image
changing-womanGraduate in reply to

actually, you know what, that makes sense....cos i cant be that unfit with how i carry on and the way i walk every day etc...

plus i did make it thru week 1 after nearly no exercise for 34 years...

That's one well used armchair 🤭, anyhow after week 2 you've the delights of week 3 💪

I think all that walking you were doing will help immensely. I was regularly brisk walking for 2 miles, at least 4x a week before C25k. I’m a Japanese slow jogger too (and 65!)...

I found at the beginning that I was focusing on “omg when will this bit end” and “when can I start walking”...but on Week 5 my brain did a complete turn around. It helped that I decided that my brisk walking was as fast (if not faster!) than my slow jogging...and I was therefore doing the times/distance anyway.

It’s a training program, so trust the programme to get you there...you just have to work on the headology 🧠 and beat off the gremlins 👹👺👹 that tell your brain that you can’t do it...

...because YOU CAN! 👊FACT🌟

LottieMW profile image
LottieMWGraduate in reply to changing-woman

...you do need to go really...really...and I mean really...slow, with a short stride 🥰🐌🐌🐌

(I confess in the first few weeks I would count the seconds off in my head...I was always slower than Jo, so it was always good to here her but in with how much was left to run!)
