Week 8 Run 1 - woohoo!

Just returned from my first 28 minute run and I’m absolutely thrilled. This programme is so clever in that it stretches you the exact right amount each week.

Run today was great for my mental health as much as my body - as per usual. I had slight nerves before I left the house. 2 minutes in my usual “you won’t be able to complete this” voice peeped up in my mind. Then 5 minutes in, as ever, I got into my groove, my breathing and pace settled. Loved looking at the autumn colours, the songs on my playlist shuffled perfectly, friendly dogs on their walks looking cute. Took a new route and ended the run taking on a substantial hill before running through some woodlands - so pretty - and couldn’t believe it when Jo Whiley said my time was up (no 1 minute warning) and was delighted to see afterwards that I’d run 4.7km.

With a new lockdown imminent I am just so glad I started c25k- the way it’s forced me to leave the flat even on rainy, grey old days. The way it’s given my days an order and a purpose. The way it’s made me feel like I’m achieving something. I’m so grateful to c25k and so surprised I’m loving it THIS much. Woo hoo!

Well done on making it to W8. I agree, as someone who never ran before, this program is amazing at teaching people how to run. The metal hurdle is by far the most fun to achieve.

I’ve just competed W8 and actually found the last run the most enjoyable.

Hope you enjoy the rest of w8 and look forward to hearing how your final week goes. Nothing is going to stop you. Not even lockdown.

Good luck for week 9 - you’re so close now! And hope you find all three runs really enjoyable and fun. Here’s to leaping over the mental hurdles!

You sound as though you had a great run - congratulations. Amazing how this programme knows that we can do it, even if we sometimes don't agree!! Then as normal we are proved wrong and the programme is right.

It all came together so nicely (and I’ve had runs where it’s been much more of a mental and physical struggle!) but yes the programme is so wise!

Thanks so much! I’ve had runs when my legs/mind have really struggled but after the initial wobble this run fell into place so nicely. Great to feel like a proper runner and great to actually enjoy it!

When I think back to week 1 and how much stronger I feel now it’s incredible. Just so grateful for the programme and to see that so many of us feel so good too! Definitely intend to keep running after week 9!
