After the euphoria of graduation... CR1 ๐Ÿ˜ฑ

Wednesday was supposed to be my first consolidation ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ and then I looked at the weather forecast โ˜น๏ธ๐Ÿฅบ๐Ÿ˜–

Not just a bit of water ๐Ÿ’ฆ but a yellow weather warning โš ๏ธ ๐Ÿคฏ

Do I wait for Thursday or go today? Decisions decisions...

I guess I wanted to get a CR under my belt so thought Iโ€™d chance it. My muscles still felt a bit tight from Sunday so I took time for warm up stretches especially as Iโ€™m in this running lark for the long haul now ๐Ÿ˜Š

I took Jo with me as others on the forum suggested and headed out.

Well, let me start with the excuses now ๐Ÿคช

Iโ€™d not eaten or drunk enough in the day (perhaps if Iโ€™d been drunk Iโ€™d have found it easier!๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜†) and Iโ€™d already walked 40 minutes to a meeting and back earlier in the day.

After 15 minutes it was getting hard, 20 minutes in and I wondered why Iโ€™d bothered as it was no longer fun! Even my tech didnโ€™t want to work properly!! I took my armband off so I could watch the clock run down, slowed right down and dug in.

Well I made it through 30 minutes, so one CR down, but Iโ€™m going to try to forget that ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ

The best bit was the cool down stretches! ๐Ÿ˜

Well done, another 30 min run under your belt, the next one will be better, you made it out and got it done, that is what counts ๐Ÿค—X

Try not to overthink it. Itโ€™s a run done and there will be another to think about soon

Well done for getting out there

Some runs are just not as good as others. It happens. Hopefully your next one will be better.

Bad runs are always going to happen! Even when at my fittest, Iโ€™d have days where my runs were absolutely terrible. Well done for getting through it and on to the next one!

Well done you ๐Ÿ‘Œ Iโ€™m having some โ€˜up and downโ€™ consolidation runs but as everyone has said they are all โ€˜one more runโ€™ ๐Ÿ‘

The weather is a pest right now though โ˜”๏ธ๐Ÿ’จโ˜”๏ธ

Keeps putting things back ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ

I donโ€™t mind getting caught in the rain but not getting soaked before I get out my garden gate ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

So true about the weather and getting soaked! ๐Ÿ˜†

Next Iโ€™ll be complaining about the โฐ going back! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

Letโ€™s hope our runs get easier and less ups and downs ๐Ÿ˜Š

Indeed , just need to keep getting out there ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ

I think the only thing is to just keep going. You definitely deserve kudos for keeping to the 30 mins.

I've now done 19 consoliodation runs (or whatever you wnt to call them) and the results have been mixed, but mostly good,

I've had to cut things short on 2 or three bad days, but on the other hand, I've also now managed to run for 48 mins, which I can't help feeling a bit chuffed about.

Good luck with the next few!

48 minutes running is good going and reassuring for me especially when youโ€™ve had days when youโ€™ve stopped earlier than 30 minutes ๐Ÿ˜

I guess I forget that when I started W1 I couldnโ€™t easily run 60 seconds and now I can run 30 minutes even if it is a slog at times!

I may just be a slave to my own expectations when itโ€™s not necessary ๐Ÿ˜Š

I graduated C25K a few months ago and I still have runs when work/weather/weekend wine/whatever conspire against me. On the good days, though, it's amazing! Just stick with it, and don't beat yourself up if things don't always go to plan. Happy running!

Itโ€™s good to know that everyone has not so good days but it doesnโ€™t mean itโ€™s forever ๐Ÿ˜Š

Iโ€™ll definitely get back out there ๐Ÿ˜Š

Well done for getting out there and getting another 30 mins chalked up ๐Ÿ’ช sounds like youโ€™d had another busy day ๐Ÿ˜ฌ Iโ€™m sure your next one will be more enjoyable ๐Ÿ˜Š

I always find the โ€˜afterโ€™ stretches the best bit ๐Ÿ˜†

MinnieMoo55 profile image
MinnieMoo55Graduate in reply to CazzaW

Iโ€™ve been very naughty ๐Ÿคชand havenโ€™t been doing stretches like I should have been either before or after. I think if Iโ€™m going to be in this for the long haul Iโ€™d better start taking the stuff outside of just lifting my legs in a ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ motion more seriously!

The โ€˜rainโ€™ tomorrow is actually a storm so definitely not just a bit of water ๐Ÿ’ฆ so glad I got out there even if it didnโ€™t go as planned ๐Ÿ˜Š

I hope all goes well for you tomorrow ๐Ÿ™Œ

CazzaW profile image

Thank you ๐Ÿ˜Š but I have to intention of going out in the rain which is now forecast ๐Ÿ˜‚ will try and choose my moment! Looks like there maybe a window of opportunity at midday but itโ€™s going to get warm again ๐Ÿ˜

Slap your wrist ๐Ÿ˜ฒ not before or after ๐Ÿ˜ฑ Iโ€™ve started to set aside an hour now (which I know is easy for me and Iโ€™m lucky I have that luxury) as by the time Iโ€™ve got myself sorted out with bits and bobs ๐Ÿ™„ warmed up, run and stretched after, thatโ€™s how long it takes!

Just seen your other post too. Again, I was lucky enough yesterday to have time to spend reading the recommended links and consolidation stuff so have a bit of a plan but I shall definitely be doing 3 weeks of (hopefully) 3 runs of 30 minutes before I even start to think of longer or shorter ๐Ÿ˜ฌ๐Ÿ˜‚

I love that you say you're into running for the long haul now. Hold on to that when you have a bad run. We all have them - it's how you deal with them that makes you a runner.

Good luck ๐Ÿ‘

Thank you ๐Ÿ˜Š

I love your post about judgement day, whether to keep running or to stop. Iโ€™m sure we will all have one of those moments and I hope I donโ€™t let the ๐Ÿฆฅ gremlins get in the way ๐Ÿ˜

In running Iโ€™ve definitely found something that is for me rather than my work, my children, my partner, my dog, my parents... the list goes on and that makes it precious ๐Ÿ˜Š

Thank you. You never know what reaction your words will have and it's nice to know that post struck a chord and is still encouraging people. It just goes to show that early struggles are a common experience.

Chin up and push on through. The rewards are worth it. X

Well done! These things are sent to try us. Iโ€™ve had similar problems- forgot water bottle, Lycra running trousers feel they are falling down (maybe Iโ€™ve lost weight!) tech fails me and there is no music of voice in my head spurring me in. But I finished my fourth consolidation run last night. No faster, but I did it.

Itโ€™s not easy but at least we are doing it!

Thatโ€™s brilliant ๐Ÿ˜Š I do know Iโ€™ve just got to push through this ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ

I also know the water bottle feeling, I donโ€™t feel I can run without it, just in case I should ever need it ๐Ÿ˜†

You did it...itโ€™s done โœ… Well done and on to the next. I usually run on a Tuesday, but really wasnโ€™t feeling it for various reasons โ˜น๏ธ

Hope to get out today after the storm has passed...want to get in 2 more scenic runs this week before Welsh Lockdown ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

How strange. I graduated on Friday and did a lovely run with my beginners running club in Sat and actually felt I could run further than 5k. Then Monday came and my legs were heavy and I couldnโ€™t run. I managed 4K with a few stops.

Today itโ€™s raining so canโ€™t get out there. Hoping tomorrow is going to be a better run.

As long as we keep it up Iโ€™m sure we will have good and bad days. X
