Can't quite believe it - Week 9 Run 1!!

I haven't really posted much on here but have been reading everyone else's posts for encouragement and motivation, so thank you. Having never run before and not being a natural running type at all (dance and yoga being more me!) and due to a few health setbacks it has taken me 6 months to get to this point but I just completed Run 1 of what is supposed be Week 9 and I'm super happy. I'm very slow but I don't mind that at all; I can build on that. I just can't believe that in April I could not run for 3 minutes and now I'm jogging for 30 without stopping and I can feel the difference in my lungs. So anyone else out there who is nervous to post because they are doing this over many months and are very slow, take heart please. If I can do it, believe me, you can! Sometimes, very slow and very steady truly can win the race!

Well done Dance55 - we're all on our own journeys; it doesn't matter the pace or weeks duration as we all have lives that tend to get in the way and are starting from vastly different places. Thanks for posting and good luck on your graduation run 👍

Slow and steady is the absolute way to success in this programme , and everyone’s pace ability is different. What is consistent is everyone’s enjoyment and sense of achievement if they stick to the programme 🙂 hope you have an excellent week 9 👌🏃🏻‍♀️

Wow, well done 👏 you’re on W9 too and only 2 to go 👍 I never thought I could run and always hated it at school. I do yoga too (and love dancing 💃) but always thought running would aggravate my back and neck condition but have found that my back and core feel stronger and I feel so much fitter. It doesn’t matter how long it takes and the ‘Weeks’ are only to cover the runs required so it doesn’t matter how long it takes. Slow and steady definitely wins the race and my walking was always faster than my ‘jogging’ 🐢🐌 but it’s amazing how, unknowingly the programme builds stamina and unwittingly you find you are able to go faster than you think you. Everyone is in a different journey and you’re doing brilliantly. Keep posting and I shall be looking out for your graduation post 😊

What a lovely reply, thank you 😊 We sound very like-minded! I always hated the thought of running too and am still shocked to find myself jogging round the park and feeling an element of actual pleasure! 😄

So glad your running has helped rather than aggravated your neck and back 👍👍👍

Brilliant Dance55, I have just done W9R2 and I am in total agreement. Slow and steady wins the race. Not just me then ....that has being doing this programme for some time.

You have achieved so much already, so rightly so that you are so happy with how far you have come.

2 runs left, good luck ! 😊
