Awesome early morning run WK2R3 OUTSIDE (wooohoo!)

So! This morning I got up and thought you know what I'm gonna go run outside today! I have been running on my treadmill thinking that no-one wants to see a 15 stone red faced 40 yr old pounding the tarmac... but I was sat looking at the impending rain and wind and thought how lovely it would be to be OUT THERE. So I went!

It was AMAZING; legs didn't feel like lead at all today and the feeling of actually moving through space rather than on the spot was lovely. Then towards the end of the run the rain started and I can't even begin to tell you how much bliss it was. Well, those of you who are regular outdoor runners will probably know.

Anyway, just wanted to share my progress and how proud I am of myself for not caring about what other people might think. I also think that I ran faster than I normally would - I don't know what average pace is 'good' but averaged 10.49 per km I think... which I don't think is too bad for Week 2.

Feeling really great now and want to say, if you're struggling just keep going... it's worth it when you have a breakthrough, which will come.

Given you're still doing a lot of walking in week 2, 10.5 mins/km is good.

Long shanks here does that pace when walking. I've always been a fast walker. 😁

It looks a bit blustery outside today. Storm Ellen.

That’s brilliant! Welcome to the outside running club! It’s so much more interesting than treadmill running. Definitely think the treadmill has its place and it’s probably got a lot of shy people running in the first place but you can’t beat the freedom of outdoors! Glad you braved it. Nobody will be judging you. More likely they’ll be impressed you’re out there doing something good for yourself!

Great work ShadowsEmber, there's nothing like a bit of outdoor running to lift the spirits, welcome to the club! Treadmills totally have their place, I started out there & was terrified of the outdoors, but since I took the leap I haven't done back inside. You're doing great, keep going & enjoy that freedom, good luck with the rest of your journey! 🏃‍♀️🙂🌬

Well done you - something to be very proud of !

When I started this programme I asked much younger and fitter runners in my family what they think when they see people like me ie. older and considerably overweight in the great outdoors “running” and all of them said they think “good on yer - keep going”. So now I just raise a hand and smile as I go past ... or in some cases as they walk past and overtake me 😂

Wow, honestly I couldn’t run inside. I just wouldn’t have the motivation, so kudos to you! I run laps around a park and it’s lovely. I prefer the sun rather than rain tbh and if it’s really wet I have to skip that day...

Well done you - and get outside always and be proud to be you x you are doing amazing. 4 weeks ago I never thought I could run 30 seconds ! now im doing week for and loving it. The outside has never felt better and I actually went from not wanting to be seen to be like a panting dog, to now wanting to be seen for people to say - wow, he's enjoying that.

Keep going - im going to follow you now and want to see more these of these runs! Well done you.

Aww thank you so much! I’m feeling a little down this morning as I’ve not lost any weight this week again. But it’s a new week and must get myself motivated as it’s Week 3 run 1 this morning! Have a busy work day too. Thanks so much for your encouraging words... I’ll follow you back too TY x

Good for you! And thank-you for sharing such a heartwarming post! You're an inspiration! 🏃‍♀️⭐👏

Well done for smashing through that barrier and getting outside! 🌟Anyone seen running/jogging should be admired - you’re trying to better yourself and we all have to start somewhere.

There’s a real freedom that comes from being outside and yes, the wind and rain will make the whole experience even more invigorating! Enjoy your onward journey!
