Week 5 Run 3 Smashed!!

Just completed the 20 minute run! I am soooooo proud of myself so couldnโ€™t help writing on the forum ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

Only thing Iโ€™m a bit concerned about is my distance and pace. Distance was only 2.32km and pace 8.37/km. I know I shouldnโ€™t concentrate too much on this but Iโ€™m starting to think Iโ€™ll never get to 5k in a reasonable time.

Did people find pace picks up the more you do the longer runs? Or have you stayed pretty consistent? Iโ€™m only 5ft with little legs so not expecting to be like Usain Bolt ๐Ÿ™ˆ๐Ÿคฃ But Iโ€™m also quite young (33) and not overweight so thinking I should be able to manage a bit faster ๐Ÿค” Should I push myself next time?

Congratulations! It's a great feeling isn't it?

Worry not about distance and pace, just completing the programme.

In the same way you've managed to complete W5R3, pace and distance will come too. It's all building up as you progress through the runs.

Trust in C25K. :)

Way to go you!

That is a milestone run in the plan for sure.

I would just carry on as you are for now. Speed comes with miles on your legs. Very few graduates reach a distance of 5k within the plan. The aim is to get you running for 30 minutes non stop. Couch to 30 minutes isn't such a catchy title though.

Be especially careful of the first couple of runs of week 6 as they catch many people out with the return of interval runs. I found them quite tough

You know you have this in the bag now.๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ‘๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽ‰

Your times and pace will improve gradually, congratulations on completing run 3 of week 5, that is a milestone run with C25K, onwards and upwards to week 6 run 1 but be careful about that run as it catches out some people with the interval walks and runs after the non stop 20 minutes of W5R3 which you have just ran ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿพ ๐Ÿ˜Š

Well done.

C25k is designed to build your stamina, endurance and aerobic base required to run further and faster...........that is best done at an easy conversational pace.......not by going as fast as you can.

Can you speak aloud, clear, ungasping sentences as you run?.........if not, you are going too fast.

No need to push hard.

if it helps to know I only ran 3.03km on graduation. I have completed 1 run since at 3.22km so already covered more distance in 30 mins than before & I only measured the run. I used to worry about it too, but now I just think I'm running for 30 mins, I could barely manage a minute at the start!!

I completed wk8r2 yesterday, furthest distance so far at 3.89km which I was initially disappointed with but having read this I feel much better ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ‘
