Graduation Post! πŸŽ‰ Freddy and Elation

I made it! Me! Still in a daze I think.

Lovely steady run in the gorgeous weather and Sarah calls to say just 60 secs left and as if the stars aligned and fate smiled just for me, Freddy Mercury blasts out into my ear with the classic song (strangely enough I watched Mighty Ducks 2 yesterday) β€œWe Are The Champions” I could not have had a more perfect song playing at that moment 😎. It’s not a fast song so instead of my usual 60sec sprint I stayed steady but I kept going to the end of the song - so I actually ran a bit longer than 30mins 🀩 I was just enjoying the moment too much to stop!!! πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰

I started this journey 9weeks ago after several weeks of lockdown where I’d barely moved except to reach for more food πŸ™ˆ

I was out of breath going up stairs and everyday tasks were feeling like an effort - surely putting socks on shouldn’t be hard work 😱

With several lethal health conditions running through my family I made the decision to change my ways for my children, for my husband and for ME. That bit felt uncomfortable at first, like I was being selfish somehow, taking time for myself. Luckily for me my family have been nothing but supportive.

I feel fitter than I’ve felt in 20yrs and I’ve even lost a few lbs.

I really am the classic example of β€˜if I can do it, then anyone can!’

I can honestly say though that I know I would not have got this far if I hadn’t joined this forum.

Thank you to everyone who posts - the knowledge, inspiration and the laughs have kept me going even when I wasn’t sure I could.

The very best part is I’ve finally convinced my husband to give it a go (he was adamant when I started that running wasn’t for him so he started cycling instead)

I can’t wait til we can go for long weekend runs together- what better graduation gift πŸ’

β€œKeep on fighting til the end,

we are the champions,

we are the champions,

We are the champions of the world!”

I know some people don’t like to listen to music when they run but for me it really is a big part of the enjoyment 😊

Missed your graduation post.

Fantastic well done. It's such an amazing feeling isnt it, when you have been unfit for a while, and then after this programme, feel as if you have been reborn.

We are the champions of the world. πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸ₯³πŸ₯³πŸ₯³πŸ₯³

Have you been on a consolidation run yet? Or having a well earned rest, before carrying on anew?

Foxyblue profile image
Foxyblue in reply to Nervousrunner

Thanks, I have done a couple of consolidation runs. Was hoping to be running with my hubby but he came off his bike earlier this week and dislocated his shoulder πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™€οΈ

I’ll keep running solo til he’s recovered then my plan is to start the program again with him but slow jog the walking bits and improve my pace in the run bits. Not sure if it’s a good idea or not but we’ll see πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸ˜‚
