Traditional post of new shoes!

Three months ago, I couldn’t even think of running more than a couple of yards. I had never heard of gait analysis. I bought cheap trainers and thought anyone who spent more than about £20 was being ripped off.

I graduated C25K two weeks ago, I’m working towards running the whole 5K to prepare for ParkRuns starting up again. Today I drove 25 miles to go to a specialist running shop, experience this mystical gait analysis and buy an expensive pair of running shoes.

I’m 65 in September and I do not recognise myself!!

Well done! I had a gait test and bought new trainers Saturday and it's like walking on air! First run in my new shoes and managed a 5k!! So worth the money 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️

Sounds very familiar. Yet to buy the shoes but it's in the pipeline and I'll be sure to post them up on here. Hope you get a lot of joy out of using them... 👍💪😁

Very smart, you’ve earned those, you’ll be running 5k in no time with those on your feet 👍

Nice trainers!! When I replaced the 8 year old trainers I started on, I got a pair of pink Adidas (incidentally, I needed a half size bigger) ...2 months later and I wish I had got a dark colour....they are looking rather dirty! Hope all goes well in your new shoes 👟☺️

I’m seriously considering a gait analysis as the £20 shoes I bought in W1 are obviously pushing my ankles in the wrong position, even though they are a decent make (got lucky and scored a decent set of unused second hand ones off eBay). Probably going to call the local shop tomorrow and most likely spend too much money.

Do the new shoes fit better than the old ones?

Very much so. I just had cheap trainers up til now. These new ones feel as if I’ve been wearing them for ages. It will be interesting to see how they feel when I’m running!

Fantastic!

You have earned those new shoes and I bet you look amazing wearing them!😁

Happy running 🏃‍♀️ and good luck with reaching the 5k.

That's my plan too - currently averaging 4.6k in ~39 minutes - not exactly world record pace but I'm pretty happy considering I couldn't run for toffee 3 months ago.
