Week 8 Run 2 On Fire πŸ”₯

Set out this morning after a poor night’s sleep, but the sun was shining on a glorious morning here in the fens and I’d been looking forward to this run πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈ.

Off we went on the warm up walk. I had already decided that I wasn’t feeling it this morning. I thought it would be best not to push myself again like I had for the previous run; I would just take it steady and get Run 2 under my belt safely.

Michael counts me in and off we go! I’m running on the high (man made) riverbank; I do enjoy this run, even though it’s by necessity a β€˜there and back’ run, rather than a circular route.

Queen through the headphones 🎡 β€˜It’s a Beautiful Day’; yes, it is, Freddie! I feel a bit sluggish, first 5 minutes are hard. Settle into a pace, but it feels slow. At some stage, I feel my watch vibrating to tell me 1K. My pace is good! How did that happen!? Heartened, all thoughts of a steady run go out of the window and I start to push myself a bit! When will I learn to stop competing with myself πŸ˜‚. I have to negotiate a gate, I’m annoyed at the loss of seconds. Halfway bell and still going strong. I keep pushing. I wonder if I’m going to make it, but I still keep up the pace. I look at my watch and see I’m easily going to make 3K. Yesss! Last five minutes and I’m still pushing. Michael cuts in to say slow down, but I’m not fooled this time and I carry on until the end! I’m out of breath and really tired.

Another personal best - 3.29K and pace 8:34. Yes, I’ll take that, thank you very much! Run successfully completed.

Well done! Beautiful view as usual! We both have the problem with competing with ourselves once we see we are doing a good pace πŸ˜‚ not long now until you complete C25K! I strangely feel like the runs you almost aren't into end up being the faster ones because I was a little bit like that this morning, but runs I am pumped for I tend to be at an average pace for sometimes... strange. Oh well, good luck for your next run! You'll smash 30 minutes out of the park! 😊

Thanks 😘 I noticed that we have a similar view about competing with ourselves! Interesting comment about mindset before the run, you may be right.

Definitely, nice to know that someone else is the same! I wonder whether it's because people are running faster on days they aren't in the mood for it because they want to get it done and over with πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Well done Jools ... another PB .... I would have to say that view would make me forget the world and my pace and put me in the zone ... stunning!

You seem to be finding a nice pace now that your comfortable with ... not long to go now, 4 runs to go!

Thanks! The better view is in the opposite direction, but I’m a photographer and the sun was too high to do it justice πŸ˜€.

4 runs to go! I can hardly believe it!

Thanks! I was surprised. It didn’t feel like it was going to be a good one.

Well done Jools πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Good to hear it's going well .

So, you have overtaken me again ! Haha

How I wish I was running !

I even had a dream I was running last night

Then so disappointed to wake up and remember I can't !

I'm trying so hard to stay positive, but that is a real challenge 😐

Anyway, one more run before your last week !

I will be watching from the sidelines and cheering you on πŸ‘

Thank you! I felt the same as you when I was on my 4 day break. Hope the pain is easing and you can get back into it very soon.

Great post!...Great run!

We can't help but be competitive with ourselves can we!.... It's mad!

Sounds like you stormed it!...everything fell into place and even the gate didn't phase you!...

Looks a fab place to run!

1 more and then you are on the final week! :-)

I've got my final graduation run 9 on Friday - a few of us are running... some not even for graduation run but just a bit of a group virtual run ... should be great .... I'm desperately trying to ignore the fact I'm feeling like i have the onset of shin splints... I"m resting like mad cos i really want to do this run .. if i need to take a few days out after graduation before i start consolidation then i will do that... I'm keeping everything crossed!....

Thank you, Jane! It is a lovely place to run and although I really needed to get away, I’m glad to be home running in the fens again. As I get more confident I will run different routes around here. There are a few runners in our village, too. When I first started running they were way ahead of me in terms of ability but I’m catching up with them now and will try and connect with them. I’m where I want to be thanks to this programme. Never thought I could do it, but here I am with 2 x 3K runs under my belt!

Shin splints! No, I hope not. Rest well, and I’ll be thinking of you on your Graduation run! I can’t join you as I run much earlier than that due to the dreaded dog walkers! Good luck! Look forward to your Graduation write up! πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

Thanks .. it feels a little better today so perhaps not - maybe just last minute nerves for my Graduation run - wow it feels a milestone ...

I envy your experience of running different places - I vary slightly but they are all Wirral.. you, on the other hand move counties πŸ‘πŸ‘ must be great for the confidence πŸ‘

sounds like you’re storming it πŸƒπŸ½β€β™€οΈπŸ‘πŸ‘

This popped up and so I read it, wow at you pushing yourself and getting through the programme, we had Michael too, what a good run

That was a good run 😊 I remember being thrilled with it! I think I hadn’t had my watch for long, so got obsessed with my pace before I’d even graduated!
