Felt like Sam Beckett (aka the gorgeous Scott Bakula, 13yr old me swoons) for those of you not in the right age bracket to remember the program he was a time traveller who jumped in and out of people’s bodies through time β€˜putting right what once went wrong’

Well I didn’t put right any wrongs but about 10mins in I felt like I’d jumped into the body of someone else, someone who can run, someone who can run and feel totally relaxed, someone who runs and just enjoys it.

The difference today I think is that I purposefully set out to go super slow and concentrate on my breathing rather than trying to beat my last runs pace (a bad habit I think I was starting to fall into)

As I was running and it all started to feel relaxed and natural the thought about being a time traveller popped in my head.

If only I was 🧐

I would totally go back to my younger self and tell my lazy butt to get up and start C25K πŸ˜‚

Now that would be a β€˜right put wrong’. Oooh boy!

Week 9 here I come πŸ™‹πŸ»β€β™€οΈ

β€˜Oh Boy’ he’d say when at the end each episode they showed his latest incarnation....used to love that series.....and you found yourself in the body of a runner today, well that shows you are a runner now and your fitness and stamina has dramatically improved....well done you, Graduation Day will soon be in sight.....great post πŸ‘πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

I like what you say about just relaxing and trying not to think about pace , it IS an easy trap to fall into !

We should exercise mindfulness in our running and enjoy the moment πŸ‘πŸ™‚

You are so right, I practised mindfulness on the last 5mins or so, just really taking in the nature around me. Loved it πŸ˜€

It is thanks to you actually πŸ˜‰ I read a reply you wrote about it and it stuck in my mind. I have a long way to go before I will be able to run the full 5k so it made me realise the stamina bit was much more important and more important to me still was wanting to enjoy the road to 5k. So massive thank you to you and all the helpful comments I read on here ☺️

Well done - you can enjoy your runs now. I Love the analogy- I’m old enough to remember that show too. I have always struggled with my breathing when running but I’ve slowed right down after reading the advice here and wow, what a difference!! It seems the tortoise does beat the hare!!! Xx

Look on YouTube for Japanese slow running, it might give you some tips.

Thank you. Luckily someone recommended that when I was in about week 2, not sure I’d have made it this far without πŸ˜… but by the end of week 6 I started getting a bit quicker without really trying but then started falling into the trap of checking my pace and wanting to improve it each time. Today I went back to basics and just enjoyed it πŸ‘πŸΌ

That's it, just try to enjoy it, speed and distance will improve over time naturally.

Wk 8 run 3 for me today. Went pretty well apart from my C25k app stopping a few times and my fitbit giving a totally different map from what I'd run (?) I remember Sam too 😊. Glad you had a good run. Roll on wk 9!!

Congratulations... a huge achievement... forget about your younger self and time travelling back then ... travel back 8 weeks when you did W1R1.... to now ... 28 mins ... not once, but 3 times !!

Omg that is my favourite show of all time, I remember being so gutted when it finished. I was still at school and I remember banging on about it to my poor friends for weeks πŸ˜‚ I even went out and bought all 5 seasons on dvd and still have them now 😳

When you forget pace .. you do better pace - mad but true and it’s what I’ve found... we can’t help but challenge ourselves but we have plenty of time for that.... sounds like you had a fab fab run! I keep saying it but....
