W8R3 - Close to the final stretch!

This morning after 2 days rest, I was pretty excited (apart from the morning grogginess) to get up and go on my last run of Week 8 today, as well as trying out my new Aftershokz Titanium (which if you are looking at these, definitely get them - they are brilliant!) and my new running belt.

I head on my way out, tracking my walking first, and 1 minute into my run realised I was still tracking my walking rather than running on my Apple Watch, so safe to say that was a bit of a Homer Simpson D'OH! moment, but this actually made me force myself to ignore my Apple Watch completely, because the time wouldn't be accurate, and just focus on the run for what it is. I was really inspired by my last easy run, so I wanted to try and see if I could do it again, but as it was my final run of W8, I wanted to see if I could go a bit faster at the end without worrying what the pace was.

I found that my pace on the first KM after taking a quick peek at 1KM was 9'36" so decided I could speed it up a little, especially as my breathing wasn’t struggling or anything, but didn't want to look at it again after that and just focus on my music and breathing, and maybe that might have been a good thing, because KM 2 was 9'13" and KM 3 was a whopping 8'32" which I knew I was fast, as I was really pushing myself the last few minutes, just to see what I could do! I know I won't be at that pace anytime soon when I'm running normally, and I'm truly not worried about that as I like to just be able to run to enjoy it rather than focusing on PBS most of the time, but it was brilliant to see that I could do that without feeling that pressure of looking at my pace and distance constantly.

The view today was absolutely beautiful - and finally remembered to take a picture so here it is!

Gorgeous pic, and well done on your run! I’m about to head out shortly for the final week, W9R1. The time has flown by and I can’t believe what I’ve achieve so far.

I’ve been taking it easier and slowing it down and it’s definitely paid off as my legs aren’t so knackered and I’m not having issues with my Achilles.

It’s blowing a gale here so hopefully that’ll push me along 😉

Enjoy the rest of your day

Thank you! It's crazy how quick it all goes - if I wouldn't have slowed down weeks ago I probably wouldn't still be doing this programme, so it's so important and I don't think we realise how important it is until we are running ourselves! Fingers crossed haha, the wind was against me today so that wasn't brilliant. Have a good run and rest of your day!

Sounds like you had a good run. It also sounds like the running shopping habit is starting to take hold ! Love the photo, makes you want to be by the sea ! I did a few early morning runs last year along the sea (whilst visiting family) and they were great, something about the fresh sea air first thing in the morning to wake you up. Just week 9 left now, good luck.

Wow what an amazing view! Very jealous here in land locked East Mids 😢 seen a few pictures lately of people who run by the sea and it must be awesome!! Sounds like you really enjoyed it this week. Not long to go (I’m not far behind!) it is exciting. Don’t know about you but I’m both excited and a bit nervous about running without the reassuring voice of Sarah Millican 🙈

I’m hoping the guided runs on the Nike app will be as kind 😉

Well done! I chickened out of the beach this morning because it was too windy for me 💨💨

So close to that finish line now, enjoy your final week! 🏃🏼‍♀️🏃‍♂️🏃🏻🏁

Lovely view, looks quiet there, I ran down the seafront the other week and people kept getting in my way so haven’t bothered since, 3 runs to go 😊
