W6R2... and the sun is shining

So I’m sat here with a freshly brewed coffee, looking at the glorious sunshine and mild breeze and am thinking what great weather to do my W6R2... but oh no, I went out earlier when it was heaving ... stair rods ... cold and windy... but, I did it!

Set off at usual time but thought it might rain as the ground was wet and the sky grey and Alexa had advised it could and the minute I turned out of my street it started. I have taken advice from you kind people and wore a baseball cap so my glasses did not get covered and I could see (an improvement from a previous wet run).

Run went well found a great pace for the first 10mins and was actually disappointed when told to slow down for the walk. The final 10 mins was good for 5 mins then thought I’d pick up the pace ... but the combination of uphill and perhaps too hard saw me slow at the end from a steady pace. But all done!

Was like a drowned rat and sodden but as I said I could see (you have no idea how glad I am of that tip as without my glasses I have the vision of a mole ... not good for running and crossing roads!)

Feeling very pleased and eager for R3 ... did my cool down stretches and 2.5 hours on have no aches or pains.

So again thank you to all you wonderful forum members for encouragement, inspiration and superb advice... especially the baseball cap ... have I mentioned that yet ?!😂

Well done! Sounds like you deserve that nice fresh coffee!

I only said yesterday I need to resist that urge to push a bit to soon when I’m feeling good, it’s hard sometimes to stay nice and steady when you are enjoying it and want to push a bit.

Thank you 🙏

I knew as soon as I did it, it was a mistake... next one is 25mins so I’ll be more measured ... plus hoping for better weather ... but hey two runs in the rain now, I have no idea what I’ve changed into ... I wouldn’t go to the shops before if it was raining !

Well done! Another one in the bag for you! The only time I increase my pace is when I’m less than 30 seconds away from the end of the run. I’ve found it can go horribly wrong quite quickly 😀. I might have mentioned a baseball cap, but more to stop the rain going in my eyes as I left my glasses at home. Good luck with R3, you are ready for it!

Indeed the baseball cap was your suggestion! Thank you so much for that.

As soon as I pushed I did think it was not the right thing to do ... should have known better, but hey what do you expect, I’m male 🤣🤣

Am well sorted for R3 ... feeling positive and already impatient... what’s happened to me ... impatient for exercise !
