Yay I completed couch to 5k !! I feel as proud as I did the day I completed my nursing degree lol. Week one run one I thought I may have needed to call an ambulance I was in a sorry state after running for 60 seconds. Anyone that is just starting out keep at it there will be good runs and bad runs but it works 😁

Congrats! You did it!

I`m hoping for park run to come back as soon as possible so we can go out again and enjoy a nice run with a few mates.

Have an amazing Sunday. You deserve it.

Thank you so much it might sound silly but I keep hearing about park runs are these things you go and do yourself or are they organised things that you sign up for x

Shawny60 profile image
Shawny60 in reply to Bethw1984

They are usually organised by volunteers on regular basis at your local parks. The park I go to has a weekly one but not on at the moment with covid19. They plot a route of 5k round the park and time you so you can improve your timing but they cater for all types of runners and it is not competitive at all. I have not been to one as I am a long long way off a run, I have just started on week 1 lol. If you put the names of local parks in your area online, it should tell you what's on. Local councils might also have information or just enter running events in your area. Good luck.

Well done you, its just the best feeling . Like you when i first started I could barely do the 60 secs . Its still hard work but I could only dream of being able to jog non stop(however slowly) for 30 mins when I started out on this great challenge.

Good luck lovely you can do it !!! I wish I could show people how hard I actually found it at the beginning I literally couldn’t breathe for a good half an hour after each run and now I recover so quickly you can do it !!! Let us all know how you get on good luck xxx

Congratulations, these kind of posts give me motivation to get on with couch to 5k. I started last week and only managed a couple of minutes running, my legs ached so much next day. I went out yesterday and took heed of advice on forum and slowed way down and took small steps and managed to get round route, just. I would be delighted just to be able to light jog round my local park for 30mins never mind the distance. Once again well done you. Happy running.

Bethw1984 profile image

Good luck shawny you can do it !! My first week I couldn’t breathe for a good half an hour after the run finished I wanted to give up so bad. Week 3 and 4 I was in a knee brace as my knee was injured and my breathing only improved slightly Week 5 I had so much anxiety about the increased run times but through all of that I had a few really good runs that gave me the feeling like no other. It took me a good couple of weeks to realise how important a slow pace is. They said you should be able to hold a conversation whilst running and I thought Christ I literally couldn’t say one word so I knew then I was going to fast. Even if it takes you 9 weeks or 9 months to complete You can do it !!! Good luck xxx

Many congrats!! : ) it's a great feeling, and I'm another nurse who is super-proud of both achievements. For me that buzz from achieving in my running is one that has helped me cope with stress in the other.

It must have been about 2 years ago that I completed C25K but despite long lapses in running, I've been able to get back to it, and am still enjoying the momentum - I did a slightly unplanned 8.5 k this morning (took a wrong turn and got slightly lost!) ... which is still making me feel good : )

Take care, and again well done : )

Bethw1984 profile image

Well done lovely !!! It probably sounds very dramatic to most but doing this has saved me. I was working on an end of life covid ward and my head was a mess this took my mind away from things for a bit and the sense of achievement is like nothing else xxxx

Good luck you’ve got this !! Just remember to pace yourself it took me a long time to get the hang of that untill it was said that you should be able to hold a conversation whilst running and then it clicked that I was going to fast xxxx

That sounds incredibly tough: huge respect to you for finding a way to deal with it (even 'heroes' are human and vulnerable!) - and I really hope things get back to normal/more manageable. Keep on enjoying your running, and thanks for your nice reply : )
