Note to self!: don’t run in the heat ever again!!

Even tho I ran at 6 yesterday morning! The temperature still took its toll! After over heating! And struggling to breathe, I finally collapsed! Until one of my fantastic neighbours took me home and stayed with me til I recovered!

Think my final 2 weeks will be put on hold til the temperature drops!

Today! I feel fine! Just a thumping/banging headache and drowsy, but I will be fine!

Sorry about you collapsing during your run yesterday despite running first thing in the morning, even then the temperature in the south of England was around 21C with high humidity, glad you are OK now.

Wait until the temperature drops before your next run.

Sounds like you are dehydrated. Make sure you drink plenty water.

That’s what my neighbour said, I always have water with me on my runs too!

I’m drinking lots today!

Rest well... lesson learned though I wish you didn't have to go through that...

I though I was fine, but just can’t handle the heat!

I even wet my top to keep cool! Had my cooling towel and water but just got the better of me

First of all well done for even attempting it - for me the heat is a good excuse not to run! Fingers crossed you're feeling better soon and the weather cools down enough for you to get back out. Keep drinking plenty and recover

Thankyou 😊 it’s now my excuse for not running! I gave it a go and there’s no chance I’ll be doing it again!

Yesterday I went out for a walk in the heat and cut it short as it was too hot!

I went for a walk at 9am yesterday. On a normal day I would have managed 6 miles, I made it to 3 miles before I got dizzy and had to get a taxi home. Luckily there were some lovely girls in the field I was in who walked with me to the main road to make sure I was ok. I took 1.8 litres of water with me but hadnt eaten anything before I went so think I was dehydrated and low blood sugar. Definately wont be doing that again. Spent the remainder of the day resting and drinking plenty. Learned my lesson - I went for a run at 6.45am today while it was fairly cool, had breakfast and a pint of water beforehand and was fine, but wont be attempting to power walk/run in the heat again!

Makes you open your eyes! This heat is seriously too much 😎 🌞

Dizziness means you dehydrated and your blood pressure must have dropped. Heat helped it but the point is, you must hydrate properly if you want to run. You can dehydrate mid January if you don't drink enough. You need to take around 3 litres of water through drinking or eating, and that's daily, every day. And you need to balance your electrolytes that you lose through sweating. Without proper preparation it doesn't matter when you run, you can experience such episodes year round.

Yes, I figured it was dehydration as well as not eating well the night before and that morning. I have been drinking 3 litres a day, give or take, and figured drinking 1.8litres while walking would be enough but clearly not! I also suffer from anxiety which can cause the same symptoms but I listened to my body and called it a day as soon as the dizziness came on. Ive not been drinking anything to replace electrolytes though so will look into that. Thanks.

Oh nooo - be careful ... the heat is fierce! 🔥

Take it easy and chill ... until you feel better and it’s a little cooler 🥶🏃🏽‍♀️

Bad headache sounds like bad dehydration. Although it's quite warm, if prepared properly and with no underlying issues, runs can be manageable. It's about proper hydration and electrolyte balancing. Some people take lots of water with them when running but, realistically, if your body is well hydrated you should be fine running for up to an hour without drinking. Water that you drink during short runs simply ends up sloshing in your stomach, never really entering the system. If you don't drink (sip regularly) up to 3 litres through food and drinking - you will experience such nasty episodes. But remember, you can find yourself in that situation in the winter if you ignore daily hydration. 😉 There is a number of recent posts about hot to run in the heat and how to hydrate.

Really interesting thankyou, I literally just bought a white cap today from amazon, as my normal ones are black and also one with just a visor and my top of head is exposed! So I’m crossed fingers my white cap will make a huge difference. I also soaked my top to keep me cooler. And cooling towels round my neck. I’m on W8! I’m not giving up that easily 💪
