Week 9 Run 1. Been running with some pain since first started but managing ok and feeling better for it. Saw the physio and she said it was the piriformis causing the problem of hamstring pulling and tendonitis. Anyway its the big week and its hit and I have some new trainers. 1km into this morning run and the pain starts in the buttock, outside left calfvthe two tweaks of the hamstring and I stop. Really fed up. 67 and in second wind! Any suggestions how long to rest and how to stop it happening again. I suspect this hamstring? problem may be from several months back.
I did warm and stretch so a warning to those starting like me to listen to your body!

Ooch . Are you running at conversational pace? It could be that you are going too fast too soon and your body can’t keep up with you yet. Are you drinking lots of water everyday? Your body needs this to get blood pumping around your muscles? Did the physio give you stretching and strengthening exercises to do? If so, I would make sure you do those and take time off the running. Although you may get stiffness when doing c25k you mustn’t run through pain. The physio can give you the best advice, not the forum.
Good luck, and don’t worry, the runs will still be there when you have sorted your injuries.
I had that too but in both glutes after running. I did lots of stretching of hamstrings and glutes before and after running. All fine now but very painful. Try leaving 3-4 days between runs and spend rest days stretching. I am sure physio gave you some stuff to do?
