I’m nearing the end with 2 runs to go and I’ve got strava on my phone but could do with a watch or Fitbit type device as think it would be more accurate. Loads out there .. any recommendations? Thank you 😊

I have a fitbit, one of the older ones, an alta hr but it tells me in my ear when I have ran a km and sure the newer ones can be set up for this too.

Fitbits used to have a poor reputation for accuracy. That may have improved, but your phone is probably as accurate, if not more so.

Morning liz, I was given an onmove 220, don't think this model is still available they're sold by decathlon, I think it's their own brand, it has built in gps so you don't need your phone other than to listen to Laura who is only going to be encouraging me for one more run and I think you two, and of course music if you want that.

I found the instructions a bit baffling but got the basics sorted now and you're right I think it is a tad more accurate, I've been running using the watch plus strada plus Samsung health and the only consistency is their lack of it, compared to an online o s map where I can measure distance I think the watch is the most accurate and I intend to start just using it from now on, using a decathlon app myGeonaute connect, the watches data is downloaded then shared with strava which is then shared by strava with Samsung health, so win win other than strava doesn't always share the data but they say they're working on it.

Sorry for being so long winded hope this is useful beware most cheaper watches and fitness trackers don't have built in gps, they pair with your phones so no improvement in accuracy,

also a review I read on my watch said the screen wasn't easily read when running, I agree so if that's important to you check the reviews also some play music this one doesn't but I think it was about £60 which is cheap for this kind of thing.

Lastly the good news is according to my map reading and measuring skills were all being shortchanged, we are running further than our tech is telling us, not a lot but enough to nudge us towards the 5k,

Good luck well done see you in the graduation enclosure

I treated myself to a garmin. I don't have a music one as I run(! crawl) by myself so want a phone just in case. Garmin are great I wear mine all the time, easy to upload data and recharge. There are a range of watches I just wanted one with a small watch face as I have a slim wrist unlike the rest of me.

I use Strava in my Apple Watch to record as I have an iPhone, it links with health so get good accurate results on distance pace and calories burnt. My boyfriend has Garmin I think that is better than Apple Watch. I agree with earlier posts fitbits gps isn’t great and under measures distance
