Doing my 2nd day of 1st week of c25k, how can I carry on with the running part.

On my first day I managed to do the first few runs (well jogging) but when it came to the 6th one my head was telling my legs you cant do this. So I ended up walking the rest if the programme. I am going out soon to do day 2. Any suggestions when the doubt creeps in. Cheers

youtu.be/9L2b2khySLE watch this vid if you are struggling I just completed wk2 and used this technique for the 3rd run I felt so much better doing it this way and loads of people on here have shared this too.

90% of the battle is in your head. It takes determination to keep going .... you have to not listen to those negative gremlins muttering in your ear. Not to worry .... first week is hard! If you want just repeat the run if you want. You should deffo jog not run fast. Slow and steady wins the day! They mention later in the course, if someone sees your head bobbing along on the other side of a hedge they shouldn’t be able to tell if you’re walking or running. Well done for getting started 👍🏻

Hi, i did my week 1 run 2 today also.

and yes, i also struggled with the last 2 runs on run 1, i just kept telling myself i had just done 6 little runs so just another 2 to go , and of course kept the pace down .

so run 2 was this morning for me and i was not looking forward to it !

but it went fine , i certainly found it easier than run 1.

one thing i will definitely be doing for each run is to do the warm up dynamic exercises, and the after run exercises also .

good luck !

Welcome to the forum and well done on getting started.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.

Slow your pace right down so that you can aloud, clear, ungasping sentences as you run.

Enjoy your journey.

Hi Londongirl70 you need to clear any thoughts from your mind, I’ve got this method where if a thought comes into my head I visualise a pencil rubber rubbing out that thought and blowing it away.....might sound nuts, but it works for me.....Good Luck with your run 👍

Just take it at your own pace and repeat, repeat, till your ready to move on. You can do this and everyone will support you while you do! 😀👍🐝🌻

Those ‘you can’t do this’ gremlins are a regular feature here Londongirl so a large part of the plan is trying to ignore them! Take it really slowly- you can’t go too slowly! In fact your running speed could well be slower than your fast walking speed! Have you read Iannoda Truffe’s pinned post for newbies, it will give you all information you need to help you on your way. Don’t worry if you can’t complete a run - put it down to a practice session and redo it next time out when you’ll smash it! And most importantly- keep posting so that we know how you’re doing!

Thank you for all your comments. It's so great to have people that have gone through the same.

Well I have just finished day 2. Did pretty well had to stop for a few seconds but I did all the runs and walks also did an extra 30 second run to make up for it.

Thanks again

Check you pace isn’t too quick, hydrate well and keep your breathing in control. I too like you didn’t think I could do the first few and now I’ve completed 6 weeks as of tonight, you’ve got this 😊
