Middle aged man runs for the first time since leaving school

Completed my second Couch to 5k run this morning, never felt so good about myself, I'm a typical slightly overweight middle aged man, who's always been slightly embarrassed about my gut, but never did anything about it, until now, changed my diet and only drink alcohol on my rest day, and very little at that. It takes a little bit of willpower, but you soon see the results.

Welcome to the forum and well done on getting started.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.

Enjoy your journey.

Will do, thanks for the advice.

Congrats on starting C25K, I also starting this morning. How did you find it? Cutting out alcohol is so hard especially when the weather is so beautiful. I'm currently shouting at myself for wanting a G&T!

It's been easy actually, I've never been a big drinker, but I do miss a glass of wine with my dinner, I will on Sunday though 🍷🍷

Well done Mrbojangles1, great name by the way and the title of your post made me laugh, 😂 it’s like a newspaper headline. When you’ve completed a run it puts you on such a high, focus on that and the best of luck with the rest of your journey 👍
