Any good sports watches?

I'm looking at investing in a good sports watch for my running. I'm kinda broke at the minute, so I can't afford any thing to snazzy. It does need to be able to record my distance though. Any suggestions will be appreciated! 😊

P.s I can't believe I said snazzy, but whatever.

Some time ago I bought a Garmin Forerunner 235. An entry level item. Worked pretty well and monitored strides, pace and other things. Until I lost the charger I quite liked it. I just use a phone app now like Strava or Map My Run. Went for the 235 as it was the cheapest way into the world of Garmin watch apps. You can change watch faces, functions and other things. Check the latest reviews first as mine was 2.5 yrs ago. No vat on Guernsey which is handy. £125 I think it was.

Buy a second hand Garmin Forerunner 235 from eBay. Make sure you ask about the battery life. Buy a new strap at the same time. You won’t be disappointed...

I was given to test a Xiaomi Huami Amazfit Bip by a friend, before I commit to anything. GPS looks pretty accurate, I didn't find an automatic exercise recognition (which fitbit miserably failed at, recognising such things as motorbike riding as running!) so activityrecording needs to be started/stopped manually.

I haven't charged it yet and had it for a good couple of weeks. I did upload some activities to strava to see how it's working... Well, it works.

Fits on my wrist fine, its light and small. I don't really like listening to music or having permanent connection with my phone (I rather need breaks from it), so that sort of functionality doesn't bother me.

Hi Kat do you carry your phone when you run? If so you could log onto Strava it’s free for the basic app and it records distance, pace and elevation it shows your route and there are lots of ways to communicate with others x

Yes I do carry my phone, and just checked it out. It seems pretty handy, so I'll try it on my next run. Thank you
