Rocky start!

Set off in beautiful sunshine, 2 minutes in tripped over a stone I didn’t see as sun in my eyes. Did a spectacular superman down the track. Only my pride hurt! Enjoyed the cadence drill workout, not too many people out but on the way back I was running up through a wooded area with Tia on the lead, spotted someone with 2 greyhounds off lead so stepped into the trees and shouted out that I would wait for him to pass. Then one of his dogs burst into where I was standing barking and growling, I had no where to go as had prickly gorse bushes around me. Have to confess I shouted at the dog to go away, poor Tia was down on her haunches shaking. The dog owner said “he’s not vicious”, perhaps not but he scared me!! Sorry to whinge it was really a lovely run 🏃‍♀️ in a beautiful wood and my new trainers were excellent!!

Goodness That was an eventful run, and I hope you are OK after your rather movie style fall & fright! Poor Tia. I wish some would realise just how terrifying it is when they don’t exercise proper control over their dogs, it’s such a common problem too that I often run with my heart in my mouth 🥺... that said you are enjoying your running and hopefully that trumps it all. Watch out for those sneaky stones 😉 🤗

Thanks Mrs Jorge, I’m fine, I just felt such a fool. I’m a real dog lover but I still get anxious when dogs corner me, a few years ago our elderly cat was killed by my neighbours greyhound so that breed does scare me a bit. I’m not really getting any faster or really running for longer but trying out different routes to avoid the crowd. I do enjoy running through the woods, it’s slow but challenging. How is it going for you?

No wonder greyhounds scare you, so sorry to hear about your cat, so sad. I’ve not been able to run for last couple of weeks as been unwell with stomach problems but hope I’ll get back to it soon.... I think when I do I’m just going to go slow and enjoy running in the woods, the bluebells are out so a lovely place to be right now. Take care 🤗

That is a lovely path to do anything in, except be cornered by dog and owner that don’t know their manners. Glad you weren’t hurt from your fall either. We run with bear spray in our woods.

Yes it’s beautiful and most people and dogs well behaved, fortunately after a little rain at the weekend I had a soft if slightly mucky landing! Love this group!

Hope you were not hurt after your fall early in to your run. Sounds very unpleasant being cornered by that dog.

Looks like an otherwise great place to run.

Glad you’re ok Phdgranny! I’m not surprised you were upset when approached by a growling dog - when will some dog owners realise that saying “he’s not vicious “ or “he’s just playing” is simply not acceptable? And greyhounds are bred for a specific task so could be quite vicious in some circumstances! Anyway, rant over - hope Tia was ok as well!

Oh dear that was a bit of a dramatic run! But loved how you finished on a high note with the excellent new shoes! 🤣🤣🤣 Was curious to know what you're following when you mentioned the cadence drill workout?

Thank you it was a bit eventful, the program is one of the Garmin 5k programs, you run/jog for increasing amounts of time which are adapted depending on what you did the week before then you rotate 30 seconds of walking with 30 seconds of trying to up your number of steps per minute to over 200, then once a week you do a ‘longer’ run. Still about 30 minutes in total but longer runs increase each week. I am trying to increase my pace a bit but not sure I will ever do 5k in 30 mins but I like a program to follow x
