Time for change!

For the last few years I have looked out of my window and seen joggers, runners ect and thought why are you running? Is someone chasing you? Oh you are doing this on purpose! No seriously I have gone from sofa spud to spending the last two weeks taking 2 mile walks every day with my dog.i now want to be one of those people going past my window and in a few weeks if I could possibly squeeze myself into a form of lycra I think I just might! (Photo is of my dog not me! To be fair he,d probably look better in lycra!)

Good on you! I wanted to get fit but more importantly loose weight. I have never been good controlling my eating but running 3 times a week seems to be working at last! Do you have any goals (except for wearing lycra!) in mind?

Well I love my food but I ignore the im full signs! and i love cooking.so it's so difficult.i just want to be healthier and not be such a lump to be honest.running 3 times a week! Awesome!! I'm glad it's working for you hopefully it will for me too.

Hi there and welcome! And, it sounds like you are ready to give c25k a go!.......and, you dont have to wear lycra, just so you know😁 .......personally, I saved the buying of lycra until I could look at myself in it and feel okay?

I saw a fella yesterday just jogging on down my street, looking cool and comfortable, in his denim shorts🤷‍♀️

Anyway, I digress......when you do it, take it easy, take it slowly, and let us know how you're getting on!😊

Thank you Sonia.phew! About the lycra I wouldn't wish that on anyone! With me standing still, let alone in motion! I will definitely let you know how I get on.

Well done you! I was in the same place just over a year ago. I love food and cooking too and also not good at the old portion control. Other people running looked like such a nice activity 😂 a year on and I've signed up for a 10k (postponed but not to worry). I definitely don't enjoy every run but there's a bug and at some point you'll feel a huge need to 'pop out for a run'. Good luck!!!!

Plodlife! Love that name.yes the old portion control hmmmmm when I dish up dinner my plates are nearly overflowing (bit like my trousers! ) my mum used to plate up big meals so I guess it kinda carried on. I was going to ask that question on here if you are meant to enjoy every run and I have seen many posts where people have said you will get to feel a need for a run so thank you for that, that's what I thought what a nice thing to do jogging , running etc well I will see how I feel.as for your name for all you have achieved fantastic!! ( sorry about postponement)

My god my posts are long! Sorry I'm a talker will try to shorten.

I realised one day that most of the people I know who are in really good shape are runners. It made me think that if they could all do it maybe I should try. Although I found it hard, the feeling of achievement was incredible. I couldn't believe I was actually running. I still feel like that 2 years later! Actually enjoying a run while running is more hit and miss for me and comes and goes. But I always feel good for having done it and feel mentally and physically great afterwards. Even while it is a slog it has always been addictive! I hope you learn to love it too!

I totally get the sense of achievement, to be honest I felt that when I made the decision to start! Which is what you did two years ago I love that you said you couldn't believe you were running and still feel that way that made me smile.thanks happysouls.

Welcome, well done for deciding to start C25K you won't regret it 👍 take it nice and slow and remember to stay hydrated and you'll do great,

I was happy drinking beer and eating pizza before I started this 😂 now I own running clothes (no Lycra tho 😂 no one wants to see that)

Keep posting your progress and we'll be right behind you supporting you the whole way

Good luck you've got this 💪👊

Enjoy your journey 😊

Sofa spud here too. But same as you, walking most days with two dogs. They’re taken out several times a day by various family members.

The only thing that got me up and walking was signing up for a medal! Walked 5km!

Now aiming for 10km. signed up for that medal too.

Not yet a runner due to hip replacement so walking until I get there! Could run 5 even 10 metres but not km!
