I don't care if I never run 5K...

I was running W3R2 today and it occurred to me that I don't care if I never run 5K. I was running in the sunshine, without having to wear protective gloves, without worrying about getting infected, without having to listen to covid19 updates. In this time lockdown, going for a run has given me a sense of freedom and release. I am getting fitter, but that's almost become secondary. I have something to look forward to and it feels good.

How right you are. Running makes you thankful and events like these put things into perspective. I am glad you are enjoying the sense of freedom and release running brings with it. 😊

I find when I exercise outside it gives me time to think things over and put problems into perspective and find it makes me thankful as well.

Is that your kitty in the pic then? One of my friends has a brown and white tabby like that called Percy who will be 16 in June and is spoilt!

My icon is my dear departed Mrs Woo, who died 3 years ago. A very loving cat, who we've never been able to replace...it was impossible to be unhappy with Mrs Woo on your lap!

I'm sorry to hear of your loss.

Love this. By the way, you'll do 5k as long as you keep on keeping on.

Welcome to the forum and well done on your progress.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

Enjoy your journey.

Even though the title says couch to 5k, you arent actually supposed to aim for 5k.

The aim is to run for 30 minutes 3 times per week, as far as i know anyway.

The title is a bit misleading.

Yes, I’m with you on this!

I was *just* thinking I’ll be glad if I make it to Week 9 but I’m almost certain my 30 mins won’t come close to 5k (which is fine too).

Couch to 30 mins woohoo! :)

Couch to 30 mins sounds better 😀

Two weeks ago, I could not possibly have imagined myself running 5K in any number of minutes....now, I'm not so sure - my body surprises me every time I go running.

Right attitude! Brilliant. Enjoy it and follow the plan. No one cares how far or how fast you go; everyone finds his or her own place in the running scheme of things. Welcome to a life of little pleasures. 😄 I am still amazed a year on at the mental benefits of running - I think I expected the physical ones, but the clearing of the head came as a surprise. One warning: Running Addiction seems to be incurable, so watch out - there are a lot of us addicts about. 🤣🤣🎉 Enjoy. 👍

Congratulations on having such a good attitude so early on 😇. Must admit I just staggered my way through the weeks .

I can’t believe how warm it was out today . I started c25k in jan and am used to being frozen 🥶 for the first 5 mins warm up and either continually perished or just plain soaking wet . Today I was 🥵, before I even started running !!! Still not reached 5k , ☹️, but I can run 🏃‍♀️ for 30 mins ☺️.

They say it takes 12 weeks to form a habit , and I think that s true . It’s certainly less daunting now 🙈. Carry on the good work Sweet Fanny Adams 👍👍👍
