Hooray! Graduation Run W9R3 Done! C25k/3πŸ€

β€’72 Replies

I am so thankful that we can still get out to run!!

I have to admit to being under a slight panic when Boris began his tv bulletin last night and I was selfishly thinking "I have to run!I'm about to graduate!" I contemplated all manner of means of getting this run done - running under cover of darkness or dressed as a tree! Fortunately neither of those drastic measures were necessary.

It was a lovely sunny run, with just a couple of solitary walkers and their dogs on my route. One lady even called "Another person! Hello!" I grinned and waved back.

Thank you to all the wonderful mentors and admins on here who keep us all on the straight and narrow with their encouragement and advice, especially in the recent few days. It is much appreciated.

Thank you too to my fellow forum members, who have supported me along the way with their replies to my posts, encouraging words and good hearted banter. It has really kept me going and I have loved it (and will continue to do so!)

To all those on the Injury Couch (where I spent a considerable amount of time πŸ™„), your trainers and the runs are waiting for you when you are healed up. Don't push yourself too soon.

To all the newbies - C25k is a brilliant plan with huge benefits that go way beyond improving your fitness. C25k really is the best present you can give to yourself. It may not always be easy and there may be some bumps along the way, but stick with it, the rewards are great.

Okay, I'm off to ask IannodaTruffe for my shiny "Graduate" badge. I joined here just short of a year ago, so this badge has been a long time coming!

Happy running everyone πŸ˜ŠπŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸ€Έβ€β™€οΈ

UPDATE!!!

IannodaTruffe tells me I'm the 'first lock down graduate of C25k"!! What a notorious claim to fame!! πŸ€”πŸ˜‚

in reply to Granspeed

Thank you Granspeed!

I just stuck with 5ks for a little while DD then slowly upped it 10% rule though DD I over did it on one run never again...

And yes it's strange running without Michael, Laura or Jo but the freedom that comes with it is truly exhilarating

in reply to

Thank you Imc50. IannodaTruffe has also sent me a link to what comes after C25k so I shall read it this evening.😊

I am so relieved that we can all still get out there for our runs. So important to mental health and well-being to still be able to get outdoors. Hopefully everyone will be mindful of each other and respect one another's space.

Lovely post so well done! I totally agree about how brilliant the admin, mentors and fellow runners are. I have had a groin strain for several days ( moving compost bags) so am itching to get out there!

Love the flash trainers.. what make are they? I’ve got a bit trainer obsessive these days but they become precious items πŸ˜‚. Onward with that shiny new badge πŸ‘

in reply to Nymahchai

Thank you Nymahchai. I hope that groin strain heals up in a few days. Gardening has a lot to answer for injury wise, but we all still do it!

My trainers are Mizuno. I invested in them during week 4 and I'm so glas I did. They are much muddier than when I started, having never been washed or cleaned (!!!!) but they have lasted me well and I'm in no hurry to change them.

Nymahchai profile image
NymahchaiGraduate in reply to

Groin is improving thanks. Hate being on the IC but you’ve been there!

The trainers look ideal trail ones for your runs. I bought some trail ones in February but haven’t used them much as our paths have been so full of puddles and mud I didn’t fancy them. As it’s drier now I might try the park again. Yours are well used!

in reply to Nymahchai

My trainers are great. They are not specifcally for trail, but I explained the surfaces I run at the running shop and they suggested these, amongst others. I have run a mixture of road, path and trail, although it was very much pavement and road during the really wet months as my usual routes became a tough mudder course!

Well done, Delly-dot. I am a bit late on the congratulations. But I am thrilled for you. And love the shoes. Happy running πŸ‘πŸ‘€

in reply to Nilsam

Thank you Nilsam! The shoes now look very muddy compared to how new and shiny they were when they came out of the box! Thought it was a good before and after photo! Fortunately I don't look as muddy and worn as my trainers. I might be fitter but I'm not much lighter!! Must be the biscuits and the bars of chocolate πŸ™„πŸ«!

That is such positive news! Congrats lockdown graduate well done! Maybe we should rename you - what about LockDellyDotDown? Sounds a bit like the chorus in a folk song though...

Had a good chuckle over the image of you dressed as a tree. I wouldnt recommend that. Even if you keep moving, by the looks of this forum there are a lot of runners with furry friends....

Enjoy that shiny badge!!! Keep posting. X

This made me laugh, thank you! Love the new name πŸ˜‚

I have just started week 1 and your post and success is extremely motivational for us newbies!

Well done 😷πŸ₯‡

in reply to Whitto1539

Thank you Whitto. The C25k plan is amazing and it really does work. I was hooked within the first few weeks of starting it back last summer. The benefits of running go way beyond the physical and this was what made me determined to return after injury. I wish you every success on your C25k journey and hope you enjoy it as much as I did. 😊
