Another shoe disaster...

After having gait analysis and purchasing a lovely pair of Salomon trainers at the start of the programme running in them several times and feeling really pleased - I felt really disappointed a few runs in when they seemed to become too small - they don’t rub and they are super comfy but my toes now push against the ends.

I ordered various different sizes and tried different brands offline since and haven’t had much luck. Nothings felt right.

Yesterday I decided to take myself off to Cheshire oaks to the Salomon and Asics outlet stores. I tried on various different shoes, sizes, styles and with the help of the sales assistants went with the Salomon XA elevate GTX. I went up a size to 6.5 as advised, they were comfy underfoot, perfect for a mix of road and trails & waterproof... had a wonder round and a lil jog & thought they were fab! Off I went with my £54 bargain (£94ish online). Chuffed!

I wore them this morning and they are super comfy, no problems with shins, no problems with toes touching ends... heaven until about 2.5 miles in, they started to pinch the inner ball of both feet - I had to ignore and carry on running. By the time I reached home I have 2 small blisters.

Now stuck with another pair of trainers I can’t take back!? Is it just a simple fact they need “wearing in”. With this pass with wearing them more?

Feeling a bit disappointed... how do I find the perfect pair of trainers without wasting money!? It’s impossible to know until you’ve been for a run and then it’s too late.

I use runderwear anti blister running socks. Bit expensive but cheaper than anew pair of running shoes! Hope you find a solution 👍🏻

You could try using double layer anti-blister socks such as Hilly. Or compression socks that don’t move at all. Or try putting a bit of microporous tape on the area that blisters before each run.
