2 weeks of consolidation, wins and losses!

Ok so first up I put 8 lbs on over my holiday despite not missing a single run. I put this down to beer more than food because if I’m honest there was a lot of it! Anyway I’m back into my routine and not getting weighed for 10 days, I think it’s possible that the scales were not right as I had only just got back from a 30 hour journey and felt very bloated. So I have now done 7 consolidation runs mostly with the Nike app and will start the bridge to 10k at the end of Jan. one run I did week 1 again but power walked the walking bits and sprinted the running bits, this felt really great and was pretty exhausting. This morning though I did a 32 minute run and beat my personal best distance. However, I’m still pretty slow (no wonder with all this weight) and although the runs are definitely getting easier I’ve knocked another 500 calories per day off my diet for a while to see how I go. The MyFitnessPal app says this is ok and within healthy parameters so let’s see what happens. Next weigh in will be on Wednesday so I shall report back then!

Happy running everyone

Tim

Good to hear from you again. Have you tried the c25k+ podcasts? I tried them last week, great for coaching and interval training.

Yes I did listen to them but I thought I would try the Nike Run Club App which has a big selection of coached runs, I've tried quite a few of them and really like it, bit cheesy in an American way but it's good to just have someone talking you through the run and setting milestones. It's totally free as well and tracks a lot of other stats.

I have downloaded it, but haven't investigated yet.

Well done on the consolidation runs! I agree with you about the bloating after flying. I also wait a couple of days before I weigh in after a holiday and it makes a difference!

Does the bloating happen after a long car trip too? 🤣

I'm pretty sure it's artificially high, I'll know for sure on Wednesday! I have a monthly target to meet which is up on the notice board at work, If I miss two months in a row I have to take 7 people and their partners out for dinner. This worked a treat when I stopped smoking but I might not have thought it through properly with the weight loss, especially with Christmas / holiday in there. I have until March 1st to get back on target so all is not lost but if the scales were right I have just under 12 lbs to lose before then. Talk about motivation! :-)
