Equipment dilemma

Hi just completed run 1 with very uncooperative dog. Note that difficult handling dog, phone and various stoppages for dastardly dobbles. I really need ear pods, but could someone please recommend best ones. Over the years have managed to get my children Apple ones, but never myself and are apples ones best for running? Really can’t afford to make a mistake in purchasing as need to save up for new trainers and trousers that don’t end up around my ankles. Also is there some kind of gadget that can hold extra large iphone so not in pocket or hand? Know trainers should be first, but Sarah mulligan really keeps me going.

I bought ear pods from Amazon amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B07LFZ...

have had them since July and love them

There are phone arm bands for phones but i don’t have one so can’t make a suggestion

Good luck your dog will soon get the hang of it i’m sure

I use a running belt. It has a zipped pocket and stretches to the size of your phone.

Only one I’ve tried so can’t compare but it does the job-

Can’t run with my dog he just wants to stop and sniff everything 😊

I think dogs can learn which walks are 'sniffage' walks and which are runs (mine certainly did). Obviously if you've time and energy for your run and a sniffage walk with him that's all extra exercise for you!

I have the same running belt - love it as it’s not big. Holds my iPhone and single house key so it’s perfect! Too much bulk is never good.

I am on the cusp of having to learn to run without my dog (who went blind suddenly in the middle of last year and lost some hearing in the Autumn along with other symptoms that go with the syndrome) But I am just back from a woodland run with her... and my earpods. Or rather earpod, as I only want one in. They were a birthday gift and my husband informed me they were cheap ones (bought from Amazon I think) It was so nice to be able to listen again. Or rather listen without Mademoiselle on Runkeeper broadcasting my progress to anyone I was near (and as I was walking back to the car I could have a conversation with kitted up birders about crossbills without embarrassment).

Whenever I take my dog out I have a cross body bag which contains treats and has my Dicky Bag attached (this is for unused and filled poo bags) It has room for buffs and gloves and my phone and I can hear it inside the bag.

When I started this lark I was in walking boots (until half way though C24K) and normal clothes. I still run in cotton leggings and cotton long sleeved t shirt that I'd be wearing a lot of the time anyway. A waist belt (ie hands free) with a bungee lead, attached to a harness is useful if you are running in places you can't have the dog off lead. There are proper 'cani-cross' ones but my combo was under £20.

It takes a while for the dog to get with the programme, but they do. There were occasions when Google and I went for a run in the same wood but not exactly together... had to work on recall a bit with sachets of cat food and warm sausage wrapped in foil for a bit.

Gorgeous dog, very mischievous look.

Hi BPNZ . I use apple AirPods the 2nd generation ones and they work great I only use 1 in my ear just so I can hear traffic they have never fell out yet. For a phone holder I have recently bought a belt from decathlon it was £7 and it says it fits any smartphone. It fits my iPhone XR with a case and also my house keys.

I use Samsung Galaxy buds, they work fine for me as I always have some sort of headband/buff to keep hair off my face and out of my eyes, otherwise I suspect one of them would fall out, but they do the job very well.

As you have an iPhone I imagine apple products are a more logical choice.

I use a flipbelt in summer, that holds everything I need.
