Struggled with the R1 3 minutes, this morning completed first 3 minute no problem but last one made to 2.40 before walking-hoping r3 I will manage both 3 minutes. Not sure if still going to fast but when I slow down my feet feel like they are plonking down like lead weights-is this right? Thank you!!

Hi DaisyCL. Well done on getting this far and sticking at it. You’ve probably heard this before but are you drinking enough water 2-3 litres a day?

Also have you had a look at Japanese Slow Running. It’s a real eye opener about running slower and I felt it gave me permission not to look like a runner but a plodder 😂

Keep us posted -it’s great to see how you’re progressing 😊

Probably didn’t drink enough yesterday! But back on this again today.

Ooh! Not heard if that one but will look it up now.

Thank you

Everything everybody says about Japanese slow running is true. It got me through the first few weeks injury free. Speed is overrated, we're too used to seeing elite athletes on the telly running like gazelles.

Slow right down & go gently! 😄

Just count that as a practice run & try again after your rest day.

I too found Japanese slow running very helpful. 😄

Well done for getting to Week 3. This is effectively as far as I've got so far (have hit a bit of a brick wall with week 4 at the moment!) As the others have said, slowing down seems to be the key. I dun alone so couldn't use the 'ran at a speed where you can carry out a steady conversation ' test and didn't want to be seen talking to myself, but in the early stages I was certainly running too quickly. Now, when Laura tells me to 'slow down to a walk' although my style may change, there is no real difference to my speed. Until I'd seen the Japanese slow running video I didn't think that going at that speed could be classed as running so I've learned something there. Apparently the difference between walking & running is that when running, at some stage both of your feet will be off the ground at the same time. Treat this as a practice run, have a looks at the video over your rest day and try again. Good luck & let us know how you get on.

I am probably over thinking it really. But when I run I bounce if I stop bouncing my feet are like lead blocks!😂

Just try going that bit slower. I know what you mean about plonking feet, but I found that eventually you will find a rhythm that works. Good luck 👍😁

Have a look at youtu.be/9L2b2khySLE it may help. Run as slow as you can it’s not a problem you will pick up speed as you progress through the weeks. Try not to lift feet but shuffle you may find it a benefit. Good luck with the next one.
