My last post saddens me - talking about graduating by Christmas. 😢

But then I think about the last month... teaching, planning, cross country club, data drop, performance meetings, the annual flu and that’s not even mentioning Christmas preparation and shopping... and I realise I’ve tried to put all my eggs in one basket... 🤯🙈

Fast forward to today and I’ve just completed Wk4R3 tonight. 💪🏻I’m back on the right track. Which is all I want! Here to completing C25k by Easter 😂💁🏻‍♀️

And if you’ve bothered to read this, or get this far into my rant -

HOW ON EARTH AM I MEANT TO RUN 20MINS BY THE END OF NEXT WEEK 😱💭

Don't worry about next week, the program has prepared you for it, just take run 3 of week 5 slow and steady, once you have completed it you will be very proud of yourself

You're so right you are back on track . Sometimes life can get so busy , as they say not enough hours in the day.

All the runs up until now have prepared you for that 20 minute run . Just go slow and don't worry. You can do it 😊😊

Definitely not enough hours in the day 😅

Thank you for the link, I shall definitely give it a read ahead of my next run! ☺️

That life thing. It really gets in the way doesnt it?

It never occurred to me that I wouldn't do this in 9 weeks. I means, that's the plan, right.

I just see this now as a framework. We have to accept that sometimes things get in the way of running and we have to adjust the plan accordingly.

But, you have absolutely the right attitude to succeed at this.

As for week 5 run 3.... well, you're not ready for that. You're not supposed to be ready for that. You haven't done runs 1 and 2 yet!!

Trust in the program. By the time you get to it, you will be. Just make sure you go slow. Slower than you have been, and, if you have energy left in the tank at the end, then kick up the pace and go for it.

You are so gonna do this. And I look forward to hearing about your success!!

Love your idea that the plan is a framework! What a positive way of thinking about it - thank you!

I like to look ahead and get mentally prepared 😂 and then perhaps just fixate on it all week..! But slow and steady wins the race, right!!

Thank you for your encouragement 💪🏻

:-) I shared one of my earlier posts with somebody today because it related quite nicely to another subject, but you can see from the first paragraph where my head was.

healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

100% with you.

Mental preparation was absolutely the key to me 'enjoying' that run. And yes, I took it very slow to start with 😁.

Let us know how you get on wont you?

Totally with Mig on this - I saw someone else say we should call it “stage 5” not week 5! Trust, take it slow, and know we’re all cheering you on!

My plan has been to take it one run at a time. On week 6 and the epic 20 minutes at the end of week 5 still feels like a real achievement. Don't worry you will surprise yourself. Perhaps don't even look at the next run or the one after! That just sets your sights too far in the future. I've had a mini setback in this week's runs so will just have to be patient to let my knees recover and do exercises. Bet you'll be amazed at what you can do.

I wish you a speedy recovery 💕 - and well done on the 20minute running! Amazing achievement ☺️

I got derailed to, with injury. My new goal is also Easter. I got past the 20 min run, and was surprised at being able to do it (hope I can do it this time round 😖). I’m sure you’ll smash it 👊🏼 Just keep it slow 👍😁

Hope you’re all recovered now?!

We will be graduating together at Easter, wahoo 💪🏻!

Wow! That’s amazing - I’m sure you’ll do it this time around too ☺️

It took me from January to June to complete c25k- I’d targeted to finish it by Easter.... life happens - well done for keeping going - re week 5 run 3 You can do it I’m sure - assuming you’ve done the earlier runs you have definitely got this - it’s such an amazing confidence boost - I really remember this run, it was emotional- first time I actually felt like a runner! It felt like a big deal so I decided to run somewhere new to keep me motivated. I ran week 5 run 2 a couple of extra times so I could ‘save’ week 5 run 3 for a Saturday so I could run along the canal. I’m glad I did. It was lovely. Take it easy and try to enjoy it - the first bit is the hardest.

Well done for completing it 💪🏻

Love the idea of a new route for the 20minute run - thanks for the tip!

DO NOT WORRY!!!!!! By the sound of it you manage to juggle whatever’s going on....W5r3 is all in your head and you’re overthinking it already....DONT!!! All this time the plan has been preparing you for this run so shoulders down, head up, music on, deep breath...you can do this, honestly you can....slow and steady, this is not a race

Winnner profile image

I couldn’t believe it when I completed 20 minutes either... but, as others have said, just take it easy and keep going and you will.

I got as far as w9r2 then stuff happened and I lost momentum, so just before Xmas I went back to almost the beginning again. Just before New Year I did that 20minute run again and it worked again. I hope yours does too and enjoy what follows. (Much relief being back to some run walk runs again in week 6..!)

Have fun - and if you can do it in the winter, just imagine how lovely the summer will be..!

It will happen. Its taken me longer but hey life comes first. I want this to become part of my life not take over my life. I could not beleive I could barely run for a minute and can now keep moving for 30...It is not a pretty sight but I am hoping style will follow substance. I have just finished wk8. Well done..keep going

Don't be sad, crikey you're doing really well (and far better than me! I started C25K towards the end of September last year thinking that would give me plenty of time (more than 9 weeks) to be classed as a runner by Christmas, then I tried W1 R1 and realised that this was not going to be as easy as I first thought! Since then I've readjusted my aspirations and have decided that a) I will complete this thing, it's not going to beat me, but b) I'm going to do it in my own time. If this means repeating runs (I've already done a number of 'practice' runs) or even dropping back a week or so to enable to do it, so what? I'd only got to (just) completing W4 R1 when I stopped before Christmas. When I start again (hopefully on Sarturday) I am going to try Week 3 and see how it goes. Once I've done 3 of those on the trot (no pun intended) I will then move on to Week 4 and so on until I get myself to the end. I've read so many times on here how C25K is a brilliant programme, how each week/run prepares you for the next one. Stick at it s_k_y, you can do this, let us know how your next run goes.

s_k_y profile image
s_k_y in reply to Alast

My thoughts exactly!

Repeating runs and having more than one rest day between runs, because that’s how it works for me too!

Thank you for your encouraging words 💪🏻☺️

I remember thinking that but yesterday I ran for a whole 60mins - it’s amazing how it just happens !

You’ll be amazed that you can and will! Slow and steady and if it hurts go slower. The feeling when you’ve done it will make you 😀 happy. Enjoy

The fact that, as a teacher, you are managing to fit in the programme is amazing. You should be so proud you are doing the most important thing, to look after YOURSELF. I never managed that when I was a teacher, so ended up retiring early........ The planning, meetings, data always came first, it had to, to be able to do it. I did love it though. Now I'm on Week 7 and have repeated loads weeks and runs since starting in September. If I can do it, you definitely can! Just go slow and you will be amazed!!! Enjoy your YOU time and let us know how you get on.💪🏃‍♀️😁

I felt a complete failure on wed couldnt do week 7 run 1 at all !! Having not run since 19/12

Have just been out and done week 6 run 2 ( 2 x10min jogs) and just about scraped round...but feel sooooo much better for it

Keep going !!

Me and you will be graduates by Easter!!

I thought that as well but I did it and if I can anyone can, took it very slow.

Hi there. I got as far as week 8 and was running for 25 mins. Was feeling pretty pleased with myself and looking forward to graduating in the new year...... then...... I injured my foot big time and I’ve just been to the drs to see what’s what. Apparently I’ve got metatarsalgia???? Yep you’re right that is a mouthful. I’m gutted as the GP told me no running for 3:4 weeks. I could 😱 scream.

Just keep going and I promise I will too. This is just a set back- not the end of the road xxx

You will .. think positively . Mind over matter !
