Hey guys!

Been out for my first run since graduating on Monday! Decided to run in the woods where I often take my little boys for a walk. Did the podcast with Laura for when u have just graduated and found it blooming hard 🥵 if I’d been on a nice flat road I don’t think it would have been so hard but the terrain was bumpy and slippy in some parts 😳

I find that within the first 5 mins I want to give up! I feel like I’m dying BUT I also know this is the mental barrier and once I’m past that, I’m fine. More than fine even 😊 I have noticed though that I’m about 15/20 minutes into a run when I find my ‘comfortable place’. Maybe that time will become shorter as I progress. Yes, I said it..... I AM GOING TO PROGRESS! Woohoo I’m excited 😆

My plan is to run 3 times per week for 30 mins for a couple of weeks and take it from there. In the mean time can I post about my runs in here or into the consolidation club. Is there a club? I was more than likely given that link, I’m sorry! Brain has been jiggled about today along with the jelly belly from Christmas 🙈

Happy running u marvellous people 😘

Post away!!!

I always struggle for the first 5. It's like a pain barrier you have to go through. Sounds like you picked a tough drought though so huge well done for getting to the end.

Any thoughts on next steps? I'm doing the same as you to start with. Couple of weeks of consolidation and take it from there

I’m really not sure Mig, I just want to see if I can run the 30 mins like it’s becoming 2nd nature then I will think about shorter, faster runs I guess? I’ve signed up for my first 5k race in March (well, is it a race when I’m just doing it for experience and to raise money for charity 🤷🏻‍♀️) I’m not too far off 5k but probably be 40-45 mins timescale at a guess. Could be less but main thing is to run the whole thing 🏃🏻‍♀️

Get you... signing up for races!! Good for you.

I'd never actually thought about doing something like that.

Think I'm going do the consolidation runs and then try to move up to running for 40 minutes and see how that feels. So many options!!

I know eh, it was to give me something to focus on and work towards! I also signed up to one of those monthly challenges where u run a set amount.... My very first running medal is on its way for running 15 miles in December 😃 (actually ran just under 30 but didn’t want to commit to too much 😂) I look forward to hearing how u r getting on, it’s such a great place to bounce ideas and get inspiration!

Oh definitely keep posting here, it’s quite inspiring to us that have still to graduate 👍😁

Ah thanks. Yes u have a point as I’ve read so many posts from others who have graduated and it’s what’s kept me going. If I can offer the same to someone else then that’s just fantastic 😊

I'd like to tell you that 5minute barrier disappears, but nearly a year of running and I still find I'm arguing with myself for a good 5minutes into the start of a run about why I'm bothering, afterall the couch is so much comfier, the house so much warmer and the TV so much more relaxing!

But press on through and you can do anything!!

Great to see you graduated and consolidating your runs. I'm sure you'll get that "running like its second nature" feeling in no time.

Have you checked out your local Parkrun? Running with a crowd might help.

I’d be happy if it was a 5 minute barrier! Mines is a 15/20 minute barrier before I’m really settled into my run 🙈 Yeah that’s my next thing to do actually but worried I’ll get bored as it’s 3 times around a river walk! Said I’d do it once I’d graduated though so must get it organised for a Saturday I don’t have my boys. Hopefully the people and the atmosphere will distract from the boredom!

I get bored running too, well I used to, C25K and more recently B210K has helped a lot.

If you're anything like me, it's running on my own that causes me to get bored, but doing Parkrun with a few hundred others keeps mind off the boredom. My local course is only 2 laps, so maybe 3 might be a little more tedious, but you'll never know if you don't give it a shot.

Congratulations on your first consolidation run.

Keep posting on here and stick around to help all the new runners that have just signed up. There is no better help than from someone who has already ran through c25k. 😊😊

I know that others will have asked this but I have finished by C25K on 27th Dec and wondering if there is anything you need to do to confirm your graduation? Would also appreciate any tips on next steps to keep momentum. My next target is my first run but need a plan on how Im going to get there :-)
