Hello and happy new year!

I started my runing journey by running outdoors however as my only real available running time is late in the evening, with the cold wet weather and dark evenings I just didn't feel comfortable. So I joined a gym and continued my journey using the treadmill, however over the holiday period my gym has run really crappy opening times and I haven't done a run since the 23rd. I was thinking about trying to get in an outdoor run tomorrow, but I just want some opinions on if I will struggle?. My next run is week 8 run one. Opinions please?

Of course you can do it. 👍 As you’ve run outside before, I have no doubts. Just take it easy - no big push for speed, concentrate on enjoyment (bound to be more interesting than a treadmill, imho) and lasting the distance, and have fun with the change. Hope you don’t get rained on! 😊

Of course you can run outside you did it before you can do it again.

Just remember you are in charge of your pace again, concentrate on keeping it slow . Good luck 🌝

I struggle to run at the gym and find outdoors so much easier. Everyone is different but it's just so boring running on a treadmill. Go for it and I bet you'll find the time passes so much quicker

I did all c25k and also some consolidation runs on a treadmill before I finally went outside. All went better than expected except for hills witch I wasn’t used to and I went at them as fast as l could. I regretted that for a few days with really sore thigh muscles. So now when I come to hills I slow down a lot to get over and no problems since. I still use the treadmill and also run outside and can switch quite easily to either. Good luck

You should be fine having run outside before, just take it slowly, you can always speed up a little when you've been going for a little while.

Yep, I agree with the theme here, you'll be absolutely fine. Just remember that you need to be in control of the pace, not a machine.

Set off slower than you think you need to, and if you have energy in the tank at the end, kick up the pace then.

Let us know how you get on!

I gave it a try and I'm not going to lie, I struggled and only managed 20 minutes. But I have had a crappy chest infection for the last week or so, Im sure that contributed to the failure. I am going to give myself afee days to get over it fully and then try again!
