W3R1 done :)

Don’t know what I was worried about, I was really not looking forward to those longer intervals but hey, it really wasn’t bad. This course is amazing. If anyone just starting out reads this I’m an obese bloke in his 50’s who up until last month was a life long smoker. If I can do this anyone can. On the plus side my mental outlook has improved to almost unrecognisable levels and physically I’m feeling amazing. My pants are getting a bit looser, my posture has improved and my better half tells me “there isn’t as much wobble” this might be the single best thing I have ever done for myself 😀

Great you've now completed wk3r1 and you're right , nothing to worry about. The physical benefits are great as are the metal health benefits .

Well done you on stopping smoking I know how hard it is but your body and wallet will thank you for it.

Good luck 🤗🤗

Fantastic! You're doing so well, Rigpig! It's a nice feeling when your clothes start feeling a bit looser - shows that you are toning up. My new year's resolution is to quit smoking so any tips very welcome...

Just set a date in your head and mentally prepare yourself. At the beginning of October I told everyone at work that if I wasn’t nicotine free by the end of November I would take all of them out for dinner and drinks with their partners. This was a great incentive, got everyone on board and behind me and made it pretty damn sure that I was going to succeed 😀 I tried cutting back for a few days but I soon realized that this just prolongs things so I just stopped. It only takes 4 days for the physical addiction to go but the mental habit lasts a bit longer. I had my last smoke around the 10th of October. It’s really not that bad, most of it is mental. I still get the odd cravings in places where I would normally smoke but they are more of an annoyance now and last for a few seconds. Just focus on the 4 days of physical addiction, it’s not long and gets so much better. Not to mention you will feel amazing pretty quickly. Good luck!

I'd also recommend downloading the "Smoke Free" app to your phone (there's a paid version of you want extra "missions" and badges but the free version is a great motivator and provides you with updates of hour your health is improving as you go along, as well as letting you see the money you're saving.

Congratulations on completing run 1 of week 3, that is the shortest workout of C25K, its a popular week for graduates who have not ran for a little while, when I was off running for a few weeks last winter, I reran week 3, not weeks 1 or 2.

You will save a lot of money on no longer smoking, well done on that front.

Onwards and upwards to run 2 of week 3 🏃🏾😊

Know the feeling about longer runs We weren't quite ready tonight trying this on Wednesday

From my limited experience it's always easier when you have started than you think it will be. I've had one "bad run" which I finished without stopping but it just felt worse than the others. Felt great the next morning though :-)

This forum is fantastic, I try to post a little something for every run because I have enjoyed reading about people that are a little bit in front of me and hopefully someday I'll be running regularly and able to refer back to this :-)

This program really is great isnt it?

It's so well structured and the end of every week feels like an achievement.
