Just did my first run

I've been warming up for a couple of weeks with some long brisk walks and this morning took the plunge. I managed to do it without stopping and feel so incredibly happy! I recently (FINALLY!!!) quit smoking and now need to lose around 20kgs of weight. I'm in my mid 50's and apart from being overweight am not that unfit but I have not run since I was in my teens. So glad to have finally started this program and found such a supportive forum to use as a resource. As of now I am fully motivated and determined to succeed although it does seem quite incredible to me that I can run for 30 minutes without stopping

That is so exciting that you got through the first run! I think it's one of the hardest.

Massive congratulations on getting started. This community is a very supportive one, and I hope you enjoy being part of it 😊

Well done for starting and for your determination. Just take each run as it comes, dont add any twiddly bits like speed or distance. Final goal 30mins, nothing more than this. Run happy

This is a great programme and I hope you enjoy it. You will soon notice the health benefits- and well done for stopping the fags!

Great stuff. I found that getting off the couch was the hardest part. Although I didnt find wk1 r1 to be much easier.

Let us know how you get on. The guys here will give you all the support you need

You did the hardest bit when you tied your shoelaces and left the house. The rest is easy compared to that. 👏

No need to hurry, no need to push. Stopping is not a problem though and feel free to stop when you need to

It’s a fab programme 😃. Good luck and enjoy yourself

Thanks everyone for the support, it really does make a difference. Today is my rest day (and I need it) but I'm really looking forward to tomorrow mornings run. I have read all the info which is really useful and will follow it to the letter until I reach graduation. Shopping for better running shoes today! :-)
