Sore bloody foot

*not literally bloody*

Did run 2 of wk2 at park run yesterday and I am suffering today! Legs hurt and strangely my left foot hurts too...like a pulled muscle? I'm struggling to put weight on it this evening. Anyway...I'm desperate to go and do run 3 tomorrow but not sure if that's gonna happen given current state ๐Ÿ˜! Probably didn't help that I walked a fair distance today. Do I just need to accept that despite my desire to go and be busy every day, my legs are probs not ready for that?!

(The last few weeks have been the first bits of exercise *excluding walks* that I've done since getting preggers in 2017. I was fairly fit & healthy before having a baby)

Congratulations on your new born, however, it's not a good idea to run when you are injured, if you do, the injury could get worse.

Oh he's not a new born anymore! He's 16 months now...big boy! But yes, looks like I'll be giving tomorrow's run a miss going by the advice! Thanks x

Sorry about sore foot. Can I ask why you are running a 5k park run on week 2 of c25k? or did you follow the walk/run intervals from the plan with extra walking to make up the time? If you are injured you need rest it not walk and run on it otherwise you will risk making things worse

Not running the whole park run yet! ..following the c25k app! Looks like I'll be giving tomorrow a rain check then. Thanks x

I did wonder๐Ÿ˜‰ you rest up, the runs will still be there. Take care

You said you followed the plan of wk2r2 at parkrun which is good. Is it a possibility you got caught up with everyone else and ran too fast.

If you are in pain don't run . Wait until your pain has gone before running again. Are you stretching after EVERY run?๐Ÿ˜Š

It is possible I went too fast...i love the park runs but I do get a bit impatient/bored on the walking parts! I usually run with my son in the buggy but I let my partner run with him instead yesterday. The buggy is usually really good at getting me to pace myself...so maybe that's what has made the difference? I will heed everyone's advice and run once I'm recovered.

Oh and in terms of stretching afterwards i do a warm down walk...should i be doing extra stretches then?

Thank you.

I had a similar problem after week 1 which set me back about 4 weeks. My advice would be donโ€™t even try to run on it at the moment. Rest up and give it another go once healed. I am back on track now and feeling better for resting up ... have learnt the hard way! listen to your body and take it easy. Check you are wearing the correct footwear and gently jogging not racing! Good luck and enjoy!

Thanks for the tips! I have read that new runners often come across set backs with injuries/pulled muscles at the beginning.
