Can anyone recommend trainer shops/suppliers in the North East of England. I’m moving into week 6 and think it’s about time I treated my feet...🙈🤣🤣

If you Google gait analysis near me a few shops should appear 😊

This might be worth reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5... and includes a link to another post about gait analysis.

I would go to a specialist running shop, not one of the Sports discount sheds, such as Sports Direct, where you are very likely to be served by poorly trained staff who are possibly not even runners.

That’s really helpful, thanks. 😍

There is an 'up and running' in Gosforth.... i had my gait analysis done in their shop down here and the man who carried out was brilliant.

Without a doubt I would head straight to Northern Runner. I live way down south, but they have been incredibly helpful online and over the phone. I just checked their website and they do gait analysis, they are a lovely bunch of people and very knowledgeable

Meant to say, they are in Newcastle. They also have a store in Otley, West Yorkshire

Up& running in York gets good reports. Or, like Buddy says, Google gait analysis. Runners world or runners need tend to do it, but some branches will be better than others.

Best of luck, it's worth getting proper advice, I bought a pair of "good" running shoes which fit me really well, but were wrong for me when I ran. I had to stop running for a couple of weeks to let my heels recover, then ran in my old shoes until I could get a gait analysis and bought some based on that. Turns out my foot turns over, I need a stability shoe and not a neutral one. Once you know what kind of shoes are right for you, you can look for bargains online.

Up and Running in Gosforth- also Leeds, is excellent. They spent over a hour sorting out a new pair for me and gave me so much encouragement and advice. Gait analysis with running machine and video so you can see for yourself what your gait is like. Came away with some fab Altra trainers which have helped me enormously.

After an injury with my knee partly as a result of bad footwear I went to Decathlon for mine ..... got a decent pair of proper running shoes for £10.00 and not had a problem since .... comfy, supportive where it matters and lightweight. I put some sport gel insoles in as well for extra support. You can pay a fortune for some .... just depends on your budget!

I found the staff at Northern Runner very helpful. Had a gait analysis done and they spent ages on finding me suitable running shoes. Not cheap, but my feet and ankles feel much better supported now. Would absolutely recommend.

Thank you - think I’ll need to visit Northern Runner. Cx

Definitely go to somewhere that offers a gait analysis. Not sure if there's one in your area but I went to Runners Need and they were absolutely fab. Didn't even run at the time, bought a decent pair of trainers then started c25k the next day!
