W3R1 done!

Hi all,

I must admit I was full of trepidation for this one and mentioned this in a reply I posted earlier. The ever helpful IannodaTruff pointed me in the direction of a post called “Negativity......Positivity” (link in the How to post), which changed my mindset to ‘I can do it’!

I like to run just before lunch, so off I went. As cautious as ever I plodded along, and before I knew it was over. Wow!

I didn’t really struggle that much which makes me think maybe I’m not pushing myself enough. But after last weeks glute episode I would rather take it slow and steady. If I ever manage to complete this plan then there’s plenty of time to build speed and distance afterwards.

So, keep on plodding folks And we’ll get there in the end 😃

Your pace is right for you as you say you don't want to push it and injure yourself. When I had doubts about running someone posted something like ' Don't think of it as running for the next 30 minutes or so think of it as only 30 minutes out your whole day. It seems silly bit it helped me.

Good luck and we'll done 😊😊

well done Wenderwoo ….This can be an important week with run 3 waiting at the end...but it is def a case of mind over matter and not overthinking things...just go out, get some music in your ears...and most of all, stick to your comfortable pace...no need to push yourself, find that rhythm and stick to it...just like you have done with this run...great feeling isn't it?!! here's to the rest of the week x

Thanks - It is indeed a great feeling, and one I never thought I’d feel. This whole thing is so positive.

Well done you. Just think, only 2 more runs and you'll be a 3rd of the way through the program!

You're doing a great job and keeping me and others motivated at the same time.

Keep going, you're doing great :-)

Thanks, and again you’ve pointed out another motivation - that it will be a third of the way in!

Hey, well done you, by the sounds of it you're settling into this programme well. I think that taking it easy is a good idea, especially for the first run of a new week, it would be such a shame to push to hard and then find you can't complete it. If you're feeling up to it maybe push yourself a little more in the next couple of runs? What I've been trying to do so far (which was only at the end of W1 & W2) is to try and make my final run of Day three, the length I'm going to have to run next week. To me that had these advantages, if I wasn't able to, at least I'd still completed my 'current' week, and I'd have an idea of what I needed to do pace wise next time. If I could make it, I would go into the following week full of confidence that I could do it! (Although this final bit worked at the end of Week 1, it didn't for Week 2 but at least that stopped me from becoming complacent!)

Yes, some good ideas there, thanks!

Excellent progress both in your running and your mindset! It’s ok to enjoy a run & not push yourself!!!! That’s the whole point to be out there enjoying life. Every new week of the program brings a new challenge to push you onwards and upwards to the goal. Well done 👍

Well done! W3 was a milestone for me. Don’t push too hard, you don’t want a stitch or to feel completely out of puff! Embrace your inner snail and just enjoy building up to the longer runs. Sounds like you have a nice pace sorted already. Good luck for the next run x
