Just reading the book about this method of running.
Has anyone else tried it. Was quite tough keeping my heart rate low but the 3 minute runs were easy enough

I've never heard of it, but I hadn't heard of slow jogging until a few months ago and that's been a revelation. Tell me more about Maffetone.
The advice in the guide to the plan healthunlocked.com/couchto5... to jog at an easy conversational pace, at which you can speak clear ungasping sentences as you run should have a similar effect and doesn't rely on technology which can sometimes be unpredictable.
Yes, I've read a fair bit about it and am currently trying to implement - but unless I introduce a lot of walking breaks, then v difficult for me to keep below my MAF HR . So... I'm not following to the letter of the law I'm afraid. I have a 'natural' pace of 8 min/mile... my MAF HR would see me at around 11:30-12:00 min/mile currently. Tough!
I've just started trying MAF. I just picked up your comment. Can I ask how you're getting on, John (assuming you're still doing it)? Another question: do you follow Phil Maffertone's prescribed diet (low carb/high fat)?
