First run after being told I am in the Pilgrims Hospice Team for the London BigHalf Marathon 2020

Today I got out in the drizzle and did my first run after being selected for Team Pilgrim Hospice. Ran for 40.00 mins so knew would be around 4 miles achieved. Checked Strava and Fitbit only to find it did not registered distance only time saying I did a 40 minute mile totally wrong so have inputted my figures. Now have raised 43% of my total in a day for the Pilgrims Hospice in memory of my Mum and Dad. I feel so honoured to be chosen on their team, I will have now carried my Mum, read for Mum at the service and now will be running for Mum. Good luck to everyone running.

Hi Papillon. I am also running the Big Half so I’ll be following your progress with great interest. Looking forward to it? I was until I saw that the Limehouse Link tunnel goes on for over a mile!

Not even looked just stunned that accepted by a charity with no issues. Waiting for training plan this will be my first and maybe last but who knows. Will see how it goes. Only started running inJanuary at the age of 57 have run multiple consolidation runs of 5k at or under 30 mins and one 10K at just over a hour. Now reading up on what I have to eat and how often having now lost nearly 2 stone which I didn’t really need to. And you?

It will be my first HM. Excited to be part of such a big event. Just hoping I can get round with no injury and actually enjoy the day.

That pacing team that worked with Eliud Kipchoge to break the 2-hour marathon barrier were all running in bright pink shoes. That must be the secret to getting excellent times.
