🏁 W9R3 🏁 I've made it over the finish line 🏁

πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ I've just got back from my final run of the NHS Couch to 5K plan and I'm feeling so good. It was tough going as I hit that final hill (why do I still choose routes that end on a long steep uphill climb?πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ When will I learn?) But I made it to the end. I've gone from running just 60seconds before needing to walk to running a full 30mins, 3 times a week. πŸƒ SO CHUFFED! πŸ‘

Ok, so it took me 9 months to get here instead of the 9 weeks planned but what's a day or two in the grand scheme of things. πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ I made it to the finish line and that's all that matters.🏁

So what's next?

I've got a few big bike rides over the next week or so (clocking up the best part of 200Km in under 2 weeks) so I'll be taking it easy on my runs this week but I'm thinking a few consolidation runs (and of course the weekly park run) before moving on to the bridge to 10K plan so as to build on my progress and get up to that 10K mark!

Thanks to everyone on this forum. You really are the crowd at the side of the road cheering us all on. I don't think I'd have made it to the end without y'all. Beer anyone? 🍻

Well done on your achievement!

You must feel absolutely amazing!

I started in April so going the long route too! 😫 I’m stuck on W5R2... Ive done it three times now. It was the first run I repeated.... just not sure I’m ready for the next run....got a mental block.

I’m also a bit of a fair weather exerciser so may have to join the gym to get this finished!!

Hey, well done for getting to week 5. It doesn't matter how longs it's taken you to get here, just look back at how far you've come. You're doing great!

I totally get the fair weather appeal. No one likes going out when it's cold wet and miserable outside, but if you can get your head past what you see you'll find it's not too bad afterall. I work on the basis that you only get wet once, so once I'm soaked, I just kind of forget about the rain and carry on. And as long as it's not really hard and painful, it can actually be quite refreshing.

That said, if you've got the option of a nice clean dry air-conditioned gym to run in, then maybe that's a better winter option.

Keep going though, even if it takes you another 6months, you'll be so proud of yourself when you reach the end, I certainly am. πŸ‘

I always choose fairly flat routes, but every now and then I set off and forget the only way home now is up that hill. Really must work on my memory chip!!πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ
