Keeping up runs on a hiking holiday?

Currently on holiday in Switzerland and I want to run tomorrow morning (would be starting week 8 and missed a run day due to travelling). I am wondering, I have been doing 7 miles of alpine hiking every day for the last few days. Is running as well a good idea? I am probably going to be keeping up that level of hiking for the rest of the week, so not sure if I would be overdoing it with runs as well! πŸ˜„

It looks such a stunning place to run...it,would be rude not to...I would try it and,see how you feel combined with the hiking...you may kick yourself if you dont.

It is extremely tempting - I have found a great trail by a river to have a go at! πŸ˜„

Even if its a short run and continue the program when you are home....I would have to

Either way its not a lazy holiday....enjoy.

Hiking is great for building strength for running. I would not worry about the run personally. 7miles hiking each day you need some recovery time. I did a 25mile mountain hike 2 weeks before a half marathon instead of a long run and smashed my previous time. Wish I could get to the mountains more often. Enjoy the beautiful scenery on your hikes - sounds amazing! 😊 Just make sure you pick up where you left off when you are back home πŸ˜‰

Yes I have been powering up the mountain paths, feel fitter already! Plus the altitude training is a bonus πŸ˜„

I don't think there's a right or wrong answer, if you've found a lovely trail and you can fit it in and you're not too kn- tired after your hike, give it a go, but I wouldn't worry about "having" to run for the week 8 distance. And if you don't run, you're not going to lose any fitness over this week are you! Listen to your body, and enjoy your holiday, it looks stunning there.

Did a run early this morning, as I felt like it and it was lovely, got to make the most of the scenery! πŸ˜„
