W7 done and not wanting to get ahead of myself but...

I finished week 7 yesterday, running around the nicely sprung and very flat track in my local park. All very good except the track is only 500 metres and running around it 7 times was boring - particularly after the high of circumnavigating the Serpentine. So it’s back to the streets and forest - and accompanying hills - for me.

With two weeks left, I’m beginning to think beyond C25K. I know consolidation is important but I’m wondering about singing up for the Budapest marathon at the end of September. Ha ha! Ok, not exactly the marathon. They have a 5km run. I envisage great embarrassment; my son and two friends are coming out from London to run the real thing and my husband and a couple of friends are running the 10km. I fear I will be more in need of oxygen than any of them.

I wish we had park runs here but in their absence I need a target. I’m hesitating because I think a lot of people will be taking the run seriously and I find the thought quite intimidating. Assuming I finish C25K by the end of August, is it reasonable to sign up for 5km a month later?

As always, grateful for your advice.

And for no good reason except I love her, here’s a pic of my running companion.

Yes go for it , sign up for the 5k . What have you got to lose. Even if you have to walk a tiny bit or not most of it will be running anyway . Nice doggy pic😊🐶

Yes looks can be deceiving. He really is the most loving dog , likes giving us cuddles but when he's outside he is very protective of me . Also he doesn't like joggers (like us) people going past on bikes mainly anything that goes past at speed 😂

They all have their idiosyncrasies - just like us. 😊🐕🏃‍♀️

Signing up - not singing up. I’d empty the city if I tried that.

Well done finishing Week 7! Go for it! You've got nothing to lose! Sing your way to the end 🎶

You have no idea how much trauma me singing can cause. We’re on to week 8. How is that possible? Enjoy.

In my profession as a vocal coach I truly believe that EVERYONE can sing 😊🎶

I'm off to Whitby tomorrow for a couple of days for the Folk festival, so I'll be doing Run 1 of Week 8 by the sea....But Whitby is motorious for its hills (can't seem to get away from them!), so I'll be singing some VERY SLOW ballads on my run 🎶😭

Hope your first run of week 8 is a good one! Xx

I hope you’re having fun singing your way around the hills of Whitby. Actually, I think I can sing. Unfortunately nobody else agrees. Even my son asked me to stop singing lullabies as soon as he could speak. 😔😂 Enjoy the folk fest and, of course, your W8 runs. 😘😘

I read the word marathon when you hadn't even finished C25K and thought, goodness, that's a bit too soon then realised it was the 5K you wanted to run, yes, by all means, run it, good luck.

Yes, a tad soon for a marathon. I will give the 5km a go. Thanks for the advice and support.

Go for it. It'll probably take you a bit longer than 30 mins, but it will feel great. I did various charity runs in a past as a non runner and always found the atmosphere spurring me on. You are a runner now so I'm sure you 'll be great. Enjoy !
