Hard one this morning

First run back after getting the all clear from the doctors.

Sooooo hard. Forgot all my techniques, got soaked in the rain, come home feeling flat, defeated and anxious but I carried on and saw it through.

Feel like I'm constantly stop starting with this programme cuz I'm either injured or told to stop by drs and never get to the end of it. 😩😥

Sorry for the whinge. Had to let it out.

Anyone who runs any distance under those conditions has my admiration - and is certainly a Runner.

Take it extra nice and easy, you certainly have the grit for this and I bet I'll be cheering you at your graduation down the road. :)

Something I tried once and it's been a wonderful addition to my "bag of running tricks" :)

One morning, just for a change, I decided to run around the park as SLOWLY as possible without actually taking a "Walking step"

Dang but it turned out to be a LOT harder than I thought. I instinctively kept trying to run "fast" :)

However, not only was it a fun break in the running routine - it gave me a fantastic opportunity to learn what my body does when it runs :)

I started noticing how I tend to stiffen my shins, throw my right foot sideways a bit, expand and tense my ribcage unnecessarily etc :)

The huge surprise was - either my fast is slow, or my slw is fast because my time was not anything as much longer as I thought it would be 😂

Ever since, anytime I get in "trouble" with my runs, I do one of those ""Six million dollar man" slooow runs and usually it sets me straight again :)

If running isn't fun on SOME level at least - I wouldn't still be doing it :)

Big hugs, stick at it and go like a tortoise you will get there. I’m sure people can walk quicker than some of my jogging but hey we are out there giving it our best. Chin up 😁

End of week 1. I'm doing it for the second time as my dr told me to stop as my heart was beating irregularly and I had palpitations. The drs found I have a tear in a valve but it's not needing any treatment and gave the go ahead so I thought I'd start from scratch to build me up again.

So I've been out of action for 2 months or so after getting up to the end of week 2.

Crikey. Can it be controlled with medication then? Will the running help you out as well?

No medication needed at this stage but the running and exercise will help to improve my fitness and muscle strength.

I think somewhere in my mind when I was out running today I built up an anxiety about it x

You have real resilience. Every time you exercise; every minute you put in is moving you forward on a fitness journey. It sounds like yours isn’t the most straight forward one. Well done 👍

Hi Pp, you may not feel as though you’re getting anywhere - but of course you are because every time you go and do a run, you’re progressing in fitness and stamina. And doing more than if you’d stayed on that couch! And if you do it when it’s persisting it down - well that just shows how serious you are about it. So good on you! Do what you can, when you can and I’m sure you’ll get there in the end!

Hi Pp, I am sending you lots of sympathy & saying that you are not alone. I have spent more time ill /injured than running - very frustrating- but I also have realised that “running when & how I can” is better than not running at all.

I think you are doing brilliantly- build up gently & enjoy. 😄
