First run today...EVER...struggled breathing but finished and feel remarkably pleased with myself. A combination of Tina Turner and Olivia Newton-John helped! Just need to keep the enthusiasm up...any tips?

Firstly, well done you!! The very first run is the hardest by far!! Best tip is to keep reading all the motivating comments on this forum - I wouldn't be where I am now if I hadn't. Make sure you read the FAQ posts (pinned on the homepage), stick rigidly to the plan and take rest days. Keep it slow and steady on your runs and enjoy your new found, soon to be addictive activity! If you feel your enthusiasm waning, drop a line on here for lots of encouraging comments! Good luck :)

Welcome and great job on run 1... it still gives me nightmares 🤣

Slow down a little and the breathing will get easier. Habits soon form, just keep getting yourself to the start lines and the addiction will come.

Enjoy your journey... you can do this.

1 step at a time would be my tip. I also struggled with my first run today and found consciously slowing down helped.

Keep switching your music around, use songs you really love, and wallow in the success of each run, each milestone, each improvement. You can do it 😁

Well done!

Tips - well I only graduated today so I’m absolutely no expert. However here are my lucky 7 top tips for myth, from my personal experience - I hope they help you x

1) Use this site, the people are amazingly supportive - share your successes and your struggles. You will help others as well as yourself.

2) Stretch well before and after each run - don’t skimp on this!

3) Take it slowly and remember to breath!

4) Try to avoid running in the heat - early mornings or late evenings may be easier - heat is draining

5) Trust the program - it builds your physical strength and your mental strength at the same time.

6) If you have a bad run along the way, let it go. Some runs will be good and the odd one will be tough - it’s all part of the journey and you will get through

7) Visualise how you will feel when you get to the last run of wk 9 - it’ll be the best feeling ever - I can guarantee that

GOOD LUCK 😉
